Asterisk Talley has a problem — just not on the golf course.

No, the 15-year-old — who has played two impressive rounds of golf at the US Women’s Open — has a “bunch” of homework due Friday.

“It’s probably not going to get done today,” Talley told NBC Sports on Friday afternoon from Lancaster Country Club in Pennsylvania. “I feel like I can fluctuate with the due date even though they were like, ‘No exceptions,’ I am going to make them have exceptions.”

Talley has earned them.

The Californian is 1-over through two rounds at the US Women’s Open, backing up an even-par opening round — which included recovering from a triple bogey on No. 7 — with a 1-over round Friday to put herself in contention heading into the weekend.

“My dad always taught me not to be nervous because if I am nervous then I am just going to mess up anyways,” Talley said.

The two rounds look all the more impressive considering what this course did to the best players in the world Thursday: Nelly Korda was 10-over , Rose Zhang was 9-over, Lexi Thompson was 8-over.

The clubhouse lead as of Friday afternoon was 1-under par with a pair of former US Women’s champions — Minjee Lee and Yuka Saso — sharing it as the afternoon tee times hit the course.

“It’s just so hard,” Talley said of Lancaster CC on Thursday. “The pins they had on the practice rounds, I was like, if they put the pins here I’m going to start crying. I was on the verge on a couple holes with the way I was playing. But I’m not mad with where the pins were today, the way I played the course, so I feel like I’m happy with how I did.”

Asterisk’s mother, Brandii, is Greek and her daughter’s name means “little star” in that language , Yahoo Sports reported.

Talley said she was switching between drivers in the lead-up to the event, which she reached through qualifiers.

At the urging of her dad, Talley said she mimicked her swing after Nelly’s sister, Jessica, who is also a top player.

“If you don’t hit the fairway you are definitely making bogey or scrambling for par,” Talley said. “I feel like just hitting fairways and play for rollout on the greens. Because if you are above the hole you are definitely going to have a super scary putt coming back.”

Student life at École Notre Dame des Victoires (NDV) includes a large variety of offerings from the annual Talent Show to French club to Student Council. NDV students participate in student government, they volunteer for beach clean-ups, and they pack lunches for the homeless. At NDV children learn to play chess and what goes in the blue recycle bin and what goes in the green compost bin. They learn to paint, sing, sculpt, and act. NDV students are serious students, and they’re active in their communities. NDV students are involved and engaged and are well regarded by Bay Area high schools for their participation in the world beyond the classroom. NDV students are cello players, altar servers, and soccer stars; lacrosse players, coders, and practitioners of martial arts; they’re acrobats, skiers, ballerinas, and piano prodigies.

Art Workshops

Each semester, the art teacher offers a series of after school workshops open to students of every grade for an additional fee. Projects include leather work, pottery, knitting, watercolor, crafts, creating terrariums, fabric painting, making Christmas ornaments, and tie dye.

The CJSF is a service organization with the motto “Scholarship for Service.” It is open to qualified students in the seventh and eighth grades who have achieved a minimum of 3.5 GPA. CJSF sponsors a Canned Food Drive, a Warm Clothing Drive, Petit Dejeuners several mornings throughout the year, a Penny Race, and serve as Peer Tutors.

Community Outreach

NDV students conduct a variety of community outreach activities throughout the year, including a warm clothing drive, a canned food collection for the SF Food Bank, the Penny Race, the Giving Tree, and the Mission Carnival.

NDV offers a variety of clubs to serve the diverse interests of its student body.

Music Lessons

Students are offered onsite private piano, violin, and cello lessons by independent music teachers during the school day or before/after school by special arrangement. Music recitals are scheduled in the spring.

NDV is home to the   Villa Sinfonia Chamber Orchestra . Villa Sinfonia is made up of musicians of all levels, from well-known local professional musicians to school-aged children, many of whom take violin and cello lessons at NDV. The orchestra has performed at Carnegie Hall, as well as a variety of European countries.

Students in grades five through eight are eligible to participate in the Robotics Club and compete in local tournaments. Robots are programmed to complete various missions.

Safety Patrol  

The Safety Patrol is a service-oriented program for fifth-grade students and is supervised by a faculty member. The members assist students at the curb as they load and unload at morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal time. They also help to keep the parents’ cars moving in the carpool lane.

Student Council

Students in grade four through eight may run for Class Representative to the NDV Student Council. Qualified students entering the eighth grade are eligible to run for the year-long offices of President, Vice President and Commissioners of Sports, Publicity, Religion, Spirit, and Ecology. Qualified students entering seventh grade may run for Secretary and Treasurer. The Student Council meets two mornings per month and actively leads and participates in morning assembly and various school events.

Student Competitions

NDV students take part in various academic competitions throughout the year, including the Geography Bee, the Spelling Bee, the Robotics competition, and the Academic Decathlon.

École Notre Dame des Victoires is a Catholic Elementary & Middle School, Transitional Kindergarten (TK) through Eighth Grade. Our co-ed school features strong academics and enrichment classes including art, technology, and music, and daily French instruction as a separate subject. There are after school program (NDVEP) until 6pm and an array of clubs, after school classes and sports. NDV is located in the heart of downtown San Francisco .

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.  

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.
