3 Minute Speech on Friendship

Good Morning to one and all present here. I am going to present a speech about friendship. Friendship is one of the treasures that anyone can possess. God gave us the right to choose friends because they will be with us forever. Our parents and siblings are loving us as they are our own blood. But a friend is someone, who is initially a stranger. Then they take their place in our life above all the other relations. Friendship is nothing but true and pure love without expectations in return.

Speech on Friendship

Role of a Friend

True friends always support each other even during the hardest of times. A true friend is one who feels happy for our success, on the other hand, who feel gloomy for our failures. A true friend may criticize also so that we may come out of our weakness.

He may scold us if we do a mistake and guide the right path. That’s why it is being said that true friend is more precious than any gem in our life. Love from your friend will always be unconditional. They may expect nothing from us but shower their love always.

Friendship – A Divine Relationship

Friendship is a divine relationship, which is beyond the definition of blood relations. It is the only relation that is truly priceless. We may acquire all kinds of pleasures by putting our efforts. But even then life may remain dull, without having someone to share our life with some true friends.

It’s natural that human being always tends to find emotional support and social life. In spite of having everything in life, we may remain in a vacuum. It happens only when we have no such good friend to share our small and small happiness in life. Friends are always there to listen to us unconditionally.

There is no Second Chance for True Friendship

Friendship will provide us with thousands of fun moments in life which we may memorize in our old age. But side by side, with times this relation may have moments of crisis. A misunderstanding may crop in and this amazing relation may start weakening.

Always be the first one to save the friendship. God forbid, if due to some unfavorable reason distance ever arises within this relation, we must not let our friend go. Hold his or her hand and apologize for any mistake done. There is nothing more pathetic in anyone’s life than losing a true friend.

Friendship is a relationship that is like a newborn baby. Friendship is always pure and like a bundle of joy which only needs more and more nourishment to grow. Never ignore true friends or take them for granted. We may come across various people at different phases of our life. Many may pretend to be our friends but never go by outward glitter.

At last, I wish to say that a good friendship is very difficult to come across. Therefore, we should appreciate this divine relationship having a base on understanding and feelings. We just need friends to live happily. Lasting friendship is a blessing for everyone.

We don`t need to pretend to be someone else when we spend time with our friends. They give us total freedom to be who we are in reality. We should always be grateful to people who make us happy. A true friend is one of the most precious possessions in anyone’s life.

2 Minutes Speech on Friendship

Ladies and gentlemen!

Greetings to all.

Today, I want to discuss friendship with you. Everyone should value and nurture their friendships since they are wonderful things. A good friend is someone you can always count on to stick by your side, who is there for you through good times and bad, who encourages and supports you.

However, friendship is a two-way street. Both parties must put out some effort and devotion. Being dependable, encouraging, and always there for your buddy when they need you will go a long way toward being a good friend in return.

Additionally, friendship is about enjoying one other’s company and having fun. Spending time with friends is one of life’s greatest pleasures, whether it be just hanging out and chatting or going on excursions and creating memories.

So let’s be careful to cherish and care for our friendships. We should never take them for granted because they are an important aspect of our lives. I’m grateful.

Quotes for Speech about friendship

  • “Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, ‘What! You too? I thought I was the only one.'”
  • “A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out.”
  • “Friendship is the only cement that will ever hold the world together.”
  • “A friend is someone who knows all about you and still loves you.”
  • “Friendship is the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person, having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words.”
  • “A friend is someone who makes it easy to believe in yourself.”
  • “True friendship comes when the silence between two people is comfortable.”
  • “A friend is someone who believes in you when you have ceased to believe in yourself.”
  • “Friendship is the golden thread that ties the heart of all the world.”

3 Minutes Speech on Friendship

I’d like to talk to you about friendship today. We all need to appreciate and develop our friendships because they are such an essential part of life.

A true friend is someone who stands by you no matter what, through both good and terrible times. You can confide in and trust them, and they’ll always be there to support and uplift you.

Having a friend is more than just having someone to hang out with or go on activities with. It is about developing a close relationship with someone in which you feel free to be who you are and are accepted for who you are.

The fact that friendship can fill our lives with so much joy and happiness is one of its best qualities. When we have close friends, we feel loved and supported, and this can give us the courage and fortitude to deal with any difficulties that may arise.

However, friendship is a two-way street. Being a good friend in return means being there for your friends, offering encouragement and support, and letting them know how much you value their friendship.

So let’s be sure to cherish and treasure the friendships we already have while also making an effort to forge new ones. Always keep in mind that having good friends is important because they are difficult to find.

I’m grateful.

5 Minutes Speech on Friendship

Our lives wouldn’t be the same without our friends. They are the ones we go to when we need assistance, direction, or someone to simply be there for us.

But what characteristics mark a true friend? In a friendship, honesty, loyalty, and reliability are all crucial traits. Someone you can confide in and trust with your secrets is a wonderful friend. They are also devoted, being by your side no matter what and not criticising you for your errors. Speaking openly and honestly with your friends enables a better connection and understanding, therefore honesty is also important in a friendship.

But the friendship is much more than just what we gain from it. It also depends on the effort we put forth. Being a good friend is being there for your friends, giving them support and motivation, and listening well. It involves practising selflessness and occasionally prioritising your friend’s needs over your own.

Both parties must put forth effort and devotion in a friendship. It’s about supporting one another even when it’s difficult. Being a source of joy and laughter as well as a shoulder to weep on is important.

In essence, love, trust, and support are the foundations of friendship. It’s about supporting one another in both good and difficult times. As a result, treasure your friendships and dedicate time to the important people in your life.

Are you speaking at a graduation ceremony, a farewell party, or a casual gathering of friends? Understanding the context will help you determine the appropriate tone—whether it be celebratory, reflective, or even humorous. Offering Practical Advice and Reflection

Friendship speech example #1.

Good morning/afternoon/evening!

Friendship is a testament to the beauty of human connection. It goes beyond mere acquaintanceship and delves into the realm of deep understanding, trust, and shared experiences. A friend is someone who knows us for who we truly are and accepts us without judgment. They see our strengths, our weaknesses, and everything in between, yet choose to stand by our side through it all.

In a world that often feels divided, friendship unites us. It breaks down barriers, fosters empathy and compassion, and reminds us of our shared humanity. Through friendship, we learn to appreciate our differences, to celebrate diversity, and to embrace the richness that comes from engaging with people from various backgrounds and perspectives.

To cultivate and nurture friendships, we must be willing to invest time and effort. It requires being present, actively listening, and showing genuine care and interest in the lives of our friends. It means being there for them in both good times and bad, celebrating their achievements and providing a source of strength during challenging times. Small gestures of kindness and thoughtfulness can go a long way in deepening the bonds of friendship.

Thank you for your attention, and may the bonds of friendship continue to inspire and illuminate our lives.

Friendship Speech Example #2

Today, I want to take a moment to reflect on one of life’s greatest treasures: friendship. Friendship is a beacon of light that guides us, a source of strength that uplifts us, and a tapestry of shared memories that weaves together the chapters of our lives.

True friendship is based on a foundation of trust, respect, and authenticity. It is a safe haven where we can be our true selves, free from judgment or pretense. Our friends see us for who we are, flaws and all, and love us unconditionally. They provide a space where we can express our hopes, dreams, fears, and vulnerabilities without fear of rejection. In their presence, we can grow and evolve, knowing that we have their unwavering support.

Friendship is not just about the good times; it is also about weathering the storms together. It is during the challenging moments that the strength of friendship shines brightest. Friends offer a listening ear, a comforting embrace, and words of wisdom when life becomes overwhelming. They provide a fresh perspective, offering guidance and encouragement to help us navigate through difficult situations. With friends by our side, we are reminded that we are never alone in our struggles.

In conclusion, let us celebrate the gift of friendship. Let us express gratitude for those special individuals who have touched our lives, who have shared our laughter and wiped away our tears. May we cherish and nurture these connections, for they are the foundation of love, support, and understanding. And as we continue our journey through life, may we always be open to new friendships, for each one has the potential to bring new meaning and joy to our lives.

Friendship Speech Example #3

Friendship is a sanctuary where we find solace and comfort. It is a space where we can freely express our thoughts, emotions, and fears, knowing that our friends will listen without judgment. They offer a shoulder to lean on, a compassionate ear to hear our sorrows, and a kind heart to share our joys. In their presence, we feel seen, heard, and understood.

Friendship is also a catalyst for personal growth. Our friends inspire us to be the best versions of ourselves. They challenge us to step outside of our comfort zones, pursue our passions, and confront our fears. They provide honest feedback and constructive criticism, helping us recognize our blind spots and encouraging us to strive for continuous improvement.

In a world that can sometimes feel fragmented and isolated, friendship has the power to bridge divides. It fosters empathy, compassion, and understanding. Through our friendships, we gain exposure to different cultures, perspectives, and worldviews, broadening our horizons and enriching our lives. Friendship teaches us the value of acceptance, tolerance, and embracing diversity.

Thank you for your attention, and may the spirit of friendship continue to illuminate our lives with love, laughter, and lasting connections.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, friendship is a powerful force that enriches our lives and shapes our very being. Crafting a memorable speech on friendship requires a deep understanding of its essence, purpose, and audience. By sharing personal experiences, utilizing emotional appeal, incorporating inspirational quotes, and offering practical advice, you can create a speech that resonates with your listeners and leaves a lasting impact. So, let us celebrate the beauty of friendship, honor those who have touched our lives, and continue to cultivate meaningful connections that will uplift and inspire us throughout our journey.

Friendship Speech | Speech on friendship for Students and Children in English

February 8, 2024 by Prasanna

Friendship Speech: One of the most valuable relationships that anyone can make is friends. The bond that exists between two friends is far stronger and precious than the bond that exists between blood. We make friends throughout our lives right from our childhood. Life is an endless loop of making and breaking friends but the whole process of friendship making is what is worth our time in life.

In this particular friendship speech, we shall be giving a beautiful speech on how important friendship is, how to make friends, and what would life be if we didn’t have any friends.

Students can also find more  English Speech Writing  about Welcome Speeches, Farewell Speeches, etc.

Long and Short Speeches on Friendship for Students and Kids in English

If you are searching for a well-written speech for your debates or public speaking events on friendship, then we have given two different friendship speeches below. Long friendship speech in English with a word limit of 600 and short friendship speech in English with a word limit of 200 can be used by students for various extracurricular and co-curricular activities in schools and colleges.

Long Speech on Friendship 600 Words in English

Long Speech on Friendship is usually given to classes 7, 8, 9, and 10.

The fact that I have the confidence to come on the stage and speak in front of so many people today in this public speaking event in our school auditorium is because of the confidence and support that my friends gave me. It is my honor today to give a speech on friendship in front of so many of my friends and I would like to use this platform to extend my heartfelt thanks to all my friends who have been with me through my ups and downs.

Friendship is probably the only relationship and the bond that you will develop in your life that comes with no strings attached. Every relationship in your life, whether it’s with your husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, mother, father, sister or manager comes with some kind of strings attached and it always involves certain types of given and take obligations. But, a pure friendship is the only relationship in a world where there are no strings attached and you can have your relationship without any obligation of giving and taking.

Students can also find Paragraph on Friendship  and Essay on Friendship from here.

It is this beauty of friendship where you don’t feel any obligation is that makes friendship one of the best bonds that humans can create. There are various types of friendship we give names to such as best friends, few people are close friends, few people just friends and a few people good friends. There is no proper definition for this friendship category but it depends on the kind of mental synchronization that we have with them and how easily we can gel with them compared to other people.

But a lot of us, especially in our college days in school days, find it difficult to make friends easily. Some of us may have lost friends, some of us have gained a lot of friends, some of us have a big circle of friends and some of us have a very small and tiny circle of friends, but at the end of the day, irrespective of how many friends and what type of friends you have, the only thing you will remember about your college and school days is the fun and folly that we have with our friends. Let us admit that without friends, our life will simply be incomplete.

Through this platform provided for me to speak about friendship speech, I would like to address a few issues that many of us face while having friends and maintaining that relationship forever. Jealousy, ego and possessiveness are some of the human tendencies that each and every one of us has. Some of us might be judgemental, some of us might not be judgemental but at the end of the day we are all human beings and we are all born to have both good qualities and bad qualities within us.

While making friends, we look at only their good qualities but during the course of friendship, we get triggered by their bad qualities and hence end up breaking the friendship with them. A strong friendship is that relationship where we understand both the good and bad qualities of our friends and help them grow together. If you enjoy laughing and having a good time with them, it is only human to be with them during their bad times and share their sorrows and grievances.

I would like to conclude this friendship speech by saying that there is no person on this planet who will be perfect. Imperfections are what make human beings beautiful and we have to celebrate these perfections and imperfections with grace. Making and breaking friendship is a natural tendency and neither of it should be the reason for you to lose faith in friendship. Friendship is one of the most valuable and precious bonds and each and every one of us should live through that before it’s too late.

Short Speech on Friendship 200 Words in English

Short Speech on Friendship is usually given to classes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.

The only memories I have of my school and college days are the fun and enjoyment that I had with my friends. I don’t remember how much I scored in what subject or how well I was appreciated by my teachers, but all I remember is teasing my friends sharing a burst of laughter or two and having some shoulder to cry on. The kind of things that we share with our friends is those things which we cannot share with our families or even our parents.

Friendship comes with no strings attached, no judgments and no jealousy. But what we have to remember is that no person on the planet is perfect and human beings come with both good qualities and bad qualities so do our friendships with people. We can live a happy and content life if we let go of the bad qualities of our friends and concentrate on only on one good quality and if we are good enough, then we help them grow through the bad qualities together.

I would like to conclude my short friendship speech by saying that there is no relationship on earth that is as pure as friendship. It comes with its own baggage of good and bad and the mixture of these both qualities is what makes friendship beautiful.

Friendship Speech for Students in English

Friends are the family one chooses, and true friends stay with us through thick and thin. A speech on friendship can be given on the occasion of friendship day or any occasion when one wants to celebrate friendship and share the role of friendship in one’s life with others. Here, we will discuss several ways of presenting a friendship speech, like a long speech on friendship and a short speech on friendship. Also, 10 lines on friendship speech in English are discussed below.

Long and Short Friendship Speech in English

Long speech on friendship.

A long version of a speech on friendship can be framed as follows.

Very good morning to everyone. Today, I would like to deliver a speech on friendship which will take us on a walk through the streets of nostalgia and relive the precious essence of friendship that we all have experienced.

Friend. That one kid who stole your candy in school or the one student who gained more marks than you in college, or the topper who taught you everything just before an exam in university. Every friend that crosses our path in life always has something to give us, be it good memories, lessons, or just something worthwhile. True friends are always there for us through thick and thin, through good or bad, and through weal and woe. True friends support us in our decisions and correct us for our well-being. Through this speech on friendship, I am delighted to extend my gratitude to all such friends I am blessed with.

All types of friendships have something or the other that’s unique and special, a best friend, an acquaintance, or a group of friends. Whoever that may be, a friend should always be the one who fuels our passion to flying rather than clipping our wings. As we grow older, making new friends seems to be a tough job as we create a comfort zone of our own. So, the ones who remain friends since childhood and never give up on each other are the ones who are valuable.

Friendship shouldn’t be accompanied by jealousy, ego, or insecurity. A good friendship is one where people can share all their emotions heart to heart without the fear of being judged. Although friends have numerous memories to giggle about, friendship is not only about smiles or jokes. Friends should always respect each other, understand each other and support each other throughout. No one is perfect in this world. So, insecurities and flaws just make a person complete and friends are the ones who never judge each other over each other’s flaws or insecurities, rather support each other when they get agitated due to the same. Searching for the good in people, accepting their flaws, and staying loyal help people end up being good friends.

Friends are very special as we choose them to be with us and include them in our lives. So, one must make sure that they choose good ones. In this busy world, people tend to drift apart from each other due to work or other engagements. Friendships are the strongest when they reach a stage where they don't need to communicate every day to maintain the bond.

In conclusion, I would like to say that with time, friends also become family and a place for us to seek closure. Such friends should be cherished and celebrated as much as possible, and gratitude should be expressed from time to time. I am so grateful to have such amazing friends who are like a family to me. I am thankful for these precious bonds that I have created over time and spending time with them makes everything better. Friendship is the only bond that survives through thick and thin.

Short Speech on Friendship

A short friendship speech can be given on any occasion. Here, students can find an easy way to express their views on friendship in simple words.

Good morning all, today I will speak on friendship. It’s an apt topic for me; a few years ago I would not even have the courage to stand on this stage before you all. I owe a lot to my friends who have supported me and converted my weaknesses into my strengths. Friends are the ones who bring out the best in you. They will always be there for you and turn to your side in good and bad times. Friends are special as they never make you feel alone. They uplift you when you feel discouraged. They are the ones who also bring us to the right path when we are lost.

In friendship, there is no room for negativity or negative emotions. Negative emotions like ego, jealousy, hatred, possessiveness, and anger can only ruin relationships. A true friend is one who can recognize such emotions and help you bring them out. This proves their sincerity and loyalty towards you and such friends should always be held close. We all lose some friends along the way due to distance or misunderstandings. On the other hand, we also gain many real friends who believe in us and support us no matter what the circumstances are.

In conclusion, I would like to add, friendship is a mixed bag and there is every emotion in it and many ups and downs along the way. We should enjoy this gift of friendship and always lead with love, honesty, and understanding.

10 Line Friendship Speech

Speech No.1: Speech on Friendship

  • Speaker: School And College Student, Teacher
  • Audience: Students, Teachers, General Publi c

Good Morning to one and all present here. I am going to give a speech about friendship.

Do u ever think about what you would have been without your friends?? Isn’t it interesting that we are not born with friends but when we die we have different bonds with friends?

Woodrow Wilson once said, “ Friendship is the only cement that will ever hold the world together .”

Let me make it simple — as u know what is the use of cement? it holds the bricks together for any building means it is the foundation of the building and holds it tightly and makes it strong. But did you ever realize the importance of friendship is the same in our life?

We don’t have any control over our parents, our genetic makeup, or the happenings that take place in the world around us. Friendship is precious because it allows us to connect with individuals who share our values or interests.

Throughout the lifespan, there is an ongoing correlation between social support and physical as well as mental well-being, and one essential source of support is our friends.

Friendship ends our biases. We don’t distinguish on the terms of religion, status, caste, etc while making the bond. Our mythology also has such examples as in the friendship of the lord Krishna and Sudama. We can realize how pure this bond is.

Have you ever wondered how in today’s modern era where many people are introverted and who do not like to socialize? Do you ever realize the role of social media in this case? Let me tell you one case where some Instagram user posted a photograph from her school and just wanted to find out one of her childhood friends but you know what happened to the particular reel that went viral and guess what she got her friend this way. Isn’t it cute? This is what social media does. It allows you to build strong connections and now you can share everything and anything with them. Apart from this, you can stay connected with your old friends too without fearing the physical distance between both.

But then how did we come to lose friendship? You all must have heard that school is the only place where you will find the best friends or circle of your life because over time it becomes a type of selfish relationship that’s why most of you don’t consider your peers from college your friends.

We only consider a person’s positive traits when we first become friends, but as time goes on, we become sensitive to a person’s negative traits and end up severing our friendship with them. A solid friendship is one in which we are able to recognize our friends’ strengths and weaknesses and support their mutual growth. It is only natural to be there for them during their difficult times and share their sorrows and complaints if you enjoy making jokes and having fun with them.

Finally, I’d like to point out how tough it is to find a good friend.  All we need for a happy life are friends. Everyone benefits from enduring relationships.

Add In Your Speech

Note: If you had a good incident with your friend then share the whole incident at the start of the speech. That story works as an attention grabber.

Friendship is the most sacred & beautiful relationship on this earth. A friend is a gift that we all give to ourselves. It is one of the most important human relationships. It is all about love, care, trust, sharing & happiness.

A best friend is someone who is always there for you in your hard as well as happy times. Friends are those who scold us for our wrongs did & also do praise us when we do something great. They are part of all the ups & downs of our lives. They understand us to the fullest & show us the right path. They are the ones who make us comfortable in any situation, with whom we can share all our thoughts openly.

A friend is someone who never judges us & gives us the right pieces of advice. A friend is essential to understand life, as the influence of a friend is so high that it even changes the meaning of life for us. Friendship is a divine relationship that is beyond the definition of blood. It is priceless & cannot be compared with anything else in this world. So it is always very vital that you choose your friends wisely, as God has given us the right to choose a friend.

Choosing someone with good thoughts, positivity leads our life in that direction, but it often ruins life if we do not choose friends wisely. There should be love, care, understanding & sacrifice for each other. If there is ego, selfishness & jealousy, then it can never be termed as friendship. Krishna & Sudama from age-old is the best example of friendship, who were always there for each other in their difficult times.

Those persons are fortunate who come across a true friendship as it is tough to find today’s world. We all have friends but having a long-lasting friendship is very rare. Speech on Friendship

Friendship speech 1.

As we have gathered here at this auspicious occasion, I would like to speech over the friendship. First of all I would like to say Good morning to the Excellencies, respected teachers and my dear friends. A friend is a most precious gift to all of us. We should always understand its importance and give value without having any misunderstanding. Friendship is a relationship where no any blood relation exists. It is a limitless relation goes forever without the rule of give and take. It is the special and unique relation of love and affection to any other person in the world. True friendship never sees the caste, creed, religion and colour of person; it only sees the internal beauty, simplicity and soul of the two or three person going to be involved in the friendship.

Friend of anyone is someone with whom one may feel comfortable and belief to each other as well as share their thoughts, ideas and personal feelings. Friend is one with whom we can feel safe and secure and do not need to think twice for any matter. True friends involved in the friendship love each other unconditionally and understand each other need without judging on the matter. They always ready to support each other and provide good knowledge and advice. There is a most famous friendship of Krishna and Sudama in India which has become a great example of true friendship from the ancient time. There is a common saying about the friendship by the Elbert Hubbard “A friend is someone who knows all about you and still loves you.”

A true friend always stands together and helps whenever another one need help and support. A true friend never cares his/her own important works and leaves all works to help friends. He/she never leave a friend alone especially during the difficult times of life. It is said that time takes hard exams of true friends in their difficult times. Actually difficult time is a best time which realizes us about the value and importance of true friends. The people having true friends in the life are really blessed with most precious gifts. Making number of friends in the life does not matter with the quality of friendship. True friends (whether one, two or three) are enough for whole life; instead of having many friends who never understand the situation of the needy one. Friends are the real supporter in life who teaches us how to face difficulties of life. They are the real well wishers of us who changes our bad viewpoints about anything for good.

Speech about Friendship

Speculating upon what to write and what not to write when you sit down to prepare a speech on friendship? This article will offer some hand-holding and assist you to write your own friendship day speech.

Speech on How Important It Is to Have a Friend?

As social beings, humans always look out for companionship irrespective of the kind of people they are. Friends make one’s life meaningful and colourful. As kids, your cousins would be the first friends you make. As you grow up, you meet random people who express similar interests, and these are the ones who become your friends eventually.

Friendship is as sweet as it is, but you should always try to make the right kind of friends who would be a strong support in helping you grow. Bad friends can make you feel good about what you do, especially when you do something that is not right. This kind of a friendship would never help you grow to become the kind of person you are destined to be. Good friends, on the other hand, are one of the most wonderful treasures life can possibly give you. Friends are the family you choose. They always stand by you in every situation, no matter what.

Below are a few samples that would aid you in writing a speech on friendship, one that you can say not just on a friendship day but any random day when you want to let your friends know how important they are to you.

Friendship Day Speech

Short speech about friendship, faqs on friendship day.

Friendship Day is celebrated on the first Sunday in the month of August. The idea of celebrating Friendship Day globally was first thought of by Dr. Roman Artemio Bracho in 1958. It, however, was made official by the United Nations General Assembly in 2011. July 30 was declared as the International Day of Friendship with the idea of instilling friendly relations between people, countries, cultures and individuals, which would, in turn, inspire peace among different communities. Since then, people all around the world celebrate Friendship Day by exchanging friendship bands, gifts and greeting cards.

Being in school, Friendship Day was one of the most anticipated celebrations when you wait to collect as many friendship bands as possible every year. To a school kid, the number of friendship bands meant that you had a lot of friends. Friendship bands are definitely a good way to make new friends and also to remind your old friends that they matter to you. However, I would like to say that the number of friendship bands you gain on a Friendship Day does not count. All that counts is that you have at least one friend who has always got your back and would not give up on you even when you give up on yourself. You will feel a lot more lively and confident with just this one person by your side. Friends don’t stand by you only when you are happy; they make sure you are holding up and getting better even in the toughest times. They will love you for what you are and hold your hand even at your worst.

Make friends with your kind of people, and you will have the time of your life. There might be misunderstandings and fights among friends, but it is these fights that would make your bond even stronger. Friends eventually become your family. So, on this Friendship Day, I wish you good friendships and a life filled with happiness and adventure. Happy Friendship Day everyone.

Vladimir Lenin said, “Show me who your friends are, and I will tell you what you are.” The friends you keep are a reflection of the kind of person you are. One becomes friends with people who share similar interests. C.S. Lewis said, “Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, ‘What! You too? I thought I was the only one.” Those who like the same songs, bond over a favourite series or a nostalgic place are the ones who would for sure turn out to be the closest and thickest of friends.

Friends always stand by you. From participating in competitions to getting scolded by parents and teachers, your friends will be there all along. They will keep all your secrets safe and give you the solutions to almost every problem. A good friend guides you and helps you choose the right path.

Have you ever thought what it would be like to live in a world without friends? Those who have had good friends in their life can never imagine a life without them. Friends can influence your life to a great extent in both good and bad ways. It is up to you to choose the right company to keep. Cherish your friends and the times you spend with them because they make the future you. So choose your friends wisely and live life to the fullest.

Why are friends so special?

Friends include the best kind of people you have in your life. Friends can be your unpaid therapist. They can help you out of any mood swings and can cheer you up even if you do not want to feel better. Having a good friend is one of the greatest gifts of life. Cherish your friends and the times you spend with them because they make the future you.

What makes a good friend?

A good friend would be a person who is a well-wisher and the one who would always push you to do your best. A good friend knows you better than you think you know yourself. A good friend would hold your hand and stand beside you in all your happiest and saddest moments of life.

What are the quotes you can use in a friendship day speech?

Some examples of quotes that can be used when you write down your Friendship Day speech are given below: “A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out.” — Walter Winchell “The only way to have a friend is to be one.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson “A good friend is a connection to life, a tie to the past, a road to the future, the key to sanity in a totally insane world.” — Lois Wyse “True friends are those rare people who come to find you in dark places and lead you back to the light.” — Anonymous

Sample 1: Importance of Friendship Speech (200-300 words)

Good morning everyone! I am ABC and today I stand before you to present a speech on the importance of friendship. Friendship is among the few relations we choose for ourselves, all other relations are the ones we are born with. People who become friends soon turn as close as our families. Friendship is not a blood relation instead it is a heart-to-heart connection that is voluntary. It rejuvenates the soul, gives a purpose to live life, makes good times memorable and rough phases liveable.

According to a study, people who have genuine friends in their life are less susceptible to chronic illnesses such as depression, high blood pressure, anxiety, and obesity. However, just like a coin, friendship has two sides. One may come across people who are highly manipulative, selfish, and narcissistic. Such people are deemed toxic and can ruin one’s life. A not-so-genuine and fake friendship makes your life appear bland, hampers self-confidence and self-esteem. On the other hand, a true friendship helps you embrace positivity, look for meaning in life’s problems, make life enjoyable, and elevates self-confidence and self-esteem. Be cautious of your company and if you have found a set of few genuine friends, then make a voluntary effort to keep in touch with them and make them feel important. Honest friends are a valuable and priceless treasure that very few people come across in their life. Finally, I would like to conclude on a positive note that a true friendship is a journey with an end.

Sample 2: Importance of Friendship Speech (400-500 words)

Good morning everyone! I am ABC and today I stand before you to present a speech on the importance of friendship. Well-known philosophers from across the globe have talked about how friendships have helped them in shaping up their personalities and achieve success. The most valuable and priceless gift one can get is an honest friend.

In today’s world, it is becoming very difficult to trust someone completely, people fear betrayal and deception from their friends and that tells us how important true friendship is for an individual. We all, at times, fail to recognize who our true friend is and it is important to look out for certain qualities in your friends to trust them.

True friends are honest with each other, give each other time and stay with each other through thick and thin. One can freely communicate with their true friend without any kind of hesitation and be their true authentic selves with them. People don’t need to appear pretentious in front of their true friend. When life is smooth sailing, everyone wants to befriend you but see the ones who stand with you in tough phases of life. These are the people whom you should trust and count upon. A true friend will genuinely appreciate and criticize you because they believe in mutual growth and success. Acceptance and sacrifice are the prerequisites of an authentic friendship. Remember, selflessness unites and selfishness divides. For being a genuine friend, be clean-hearted and trustworthy enough, so that someone can count on you.

Friendship makes life worth living, refreshes the soul, makes you feel good about yourself.

However, an ugly friendship can ruin an individual completely and hamper self-esteem. Some of the modern problems, such as depression, divorce, obesity, and suicidal tendencies are connected to friendship. Whereas a genuine friendship can transform you in the best possible manner and help you self-actualize.  Friendship is what children, adults, and old people crave because a real friendship helps you smile more, cry less, and enjoy life to the fullest.

But always stay away from people who ghost you in times of need, never care about your well-being and make it difficult for you to live your life and stay happy. Finally, I would like to say that friendship is not a one-way street on which you can walk alone. Friendship is a two-way highway where, on both sides, love and communication must flow unhindered. Thank you so much to all of you for being patient listeners.

a 3 minute speech about friendship

Although 3-minute speeches may seem brief, a lot of words and ideas may be said at that time. Despite the time constraint, if you are conversant with the subject matter, you may prepare for your three-minute speech swiftly. The secret is to create a strong outline that allows you to add or remove details based on how much time you have left.

Words in a 3-minute speech

An average speech of three minutes in length would have roughly 390 words at a regular speech rate of 130 words per minute (wpm) .

Daphne Gray-Grant, a speech and writing coach, discovered that the typical speaking tempo is 125 to 150 words per minute or 375 to 450 words for a three-minute speech .

Writing 3-minute speeches

An engaging speech may capture the attention of the crowd and properly capture the spirit of the event. On the other side, if it is poorly written or disorganised, a dozing audience will miss your point. There is no one ideal structure for a speech. You should instead choose what will resonate with your audience the most.

1. Importance of Stories

Beginning with a story engages the audience, and using stories to break up your speech illustrates the concepts you’re talking about using instances from real life. You might also choose to tell snippets of a single story throughout your speech to illustrate your point. If you’re speaking to a group of professional women with kids, for instance, a story about work-life balance is appropriate. Pick a story that is relevant to your audience. Infrequently, if ever, are overtly political or religious statements appropriate.

2. Simply the Facts

It could be advisable to stick to only the facts while presenting a subject while looking for methods to make them applicable to your audience. But no matter what you talk about, keep your speech’s goal in mind at all times. You run the risk of losing the attention of your audience, and making a point with a long, winding speech isn’t particularly effective.

3. Ordered Chronologically

Your tale or the information you’re conveying must make sense in the order you present it, which typically entails using chronological order. If you’re discussing company law, for instance, you should start with earlier laws and tell a tale about how those rules have been modified or updated. It is feasible to deliver a speech in reverse chronological sequence, but you must make sure your audience understands this to avoid misunderstanding. Give the audience frequent dates or other points of reference to serve as the context for the timing of your speech.

4. Organizing Advice

By outlining your speech, you can make sure that you follow the proper flow and concentrate on the most important points rather than getting lost in the weeds of details. Make a rough draught of your speech, then practise it so that it flows naturally before you give it. Take a list of the key points you want to discuss in your speech and consult a subject-matter expert for any information that is either missing or superfluous to ensure that you cover what you need to.

5. Use of Diction

We select our words based on the circumstances we find ourselves in and the audience we are speaking to. The language you would use with your friends might not be appropriate for your boss. Pick the appropriate words for your audience in order to deliver a speech that is effective. The language you use must be clear to them. It is preferable to stay away from using slang because your language must also be acceptable for the topic. You do not need to poke fun at the audience or try to be amusing. Since audiences are able to tell when a speaker isn’t being sincere, speak from the heart and don’t just say what you think the audience wants to hear. You’ll be able to express yourself more strongly and with more emotion as a result.

6. Speech Patterns

Different speeches are needed for different circumstances. A three-minute presentation in class about your ideal job has a different format than a speech to your graduating class. Learning the appropriate format for various speech kinds is simple. There are various varieties of speeches, all of them ranging in form and length. Impromptu, demonstration, educational, persuading, or tribute speeches are a few examples. Each speech is appropriate for a particular situation in life. Select the speech structure that best fits your circumstance, then formats your speech in line with it. Be mindful of your introduction. Strong opening approaches, sometimes known as “hooks,” come in a variety of forms, including tales, rhetorical questions, shocking claims, striking facts, or simply acting in an unexpected or out-of-the-ordinary manner.

Preparing 3-minute speeches

One of the best strategies to make sure you deliver a compelling presentation is to practise your speech beforehand. Consider using these hints to aid in your preparation:

  • Your speech should be organised logically with an introduction, body, and conclusion.
  • Before giving a speech, frequently practise and rehearse it. Try practising in front of a mirror or with friends acting as your audience. Use a timer to help you pace your speech, and be careful to do so.
  • Learn about the podium or other location where the speech will be delivered. Find out the size of the stage, the location of any steps or impediments, and the best places to enter and exit.
  • Always keep a professional impression while dressing comfortably .
  • Regardless of whether a speech is humorous, serious, or technical, visual aids should fit it. The primary function of visual aids is to facilitate audience comprehension and reinforce key ideas of a speech in distinctive and engaging ways.

Practising 3-minute speeches

It’s common for jittery, distracting body language and a lack of preparation to ruin otherwise effective speeches. Practice your speech after you’ve planned and written it.  You have not practised enough if you need to read your speech word-for-word from your notes. You will feel more assured as you practise more. The best way to get rid of tense body language is to have a buddy videotape you speaking so you can see it repeatedly. While speaking, pay attention to how your hands are moving; they should be at ease.

Pay attention to how you stand; you should be tall and straight. Be mindful of your eye contact. Keep your eyes off of your notes, the floor, or the ceiling. Change your jewellery if it is noisy. Don’t touch your face or hair. Do not clasp your hands behind or in front of your back, and refrain from putting your hands in your pockets. Before giving your speech, repeat this procedure multiple times to make sure you have broken these undesirable habits.

The Big Day

Arrive early at the location on the day of your presentation. Wear clean, acceptable apparel, and go for the look that gets you the most compliments. Make sure your cell phone is off and remove any large objects from your pockets. Check your loudness in the room before you start to make sure you are loud enough. Make sure you can make eye contact with those seated at the audience’s margins by paying attention to where they are seated. Check the location in advance to make sure there are no obstacles like wires or cables that could cause you to trip if you wish to move while speaking. All of these actions will support your confidence grows.

Don’t try to improvise during your speech; instead, speak as you did when you were practising. Keep in mind that feeling anxious before, during, and especially after your speech is natural. This is neither a flaw nor a weakness. Use your anxious energy to make your speech lively and engaging if you have done your preparation and practising well.

Delivering 3-minute speeches

Public speaking that is effective and confident should appear natural. In truth, it takes most people a lot of time and practice before they feel comfortable speaking in front of an audience. To overcome stage anxiety, present yourself with confidence, and keep your audience interested, you can employ a variety of tactics.

1. Avoid showing any nervousness while speaking.

Imagine yourself as someone who is imparting knowledge to others who are willing to listen. Don’t worry too much about how you’ll come across while nervous: When a speaker claims to be really frightened, audiences can not help but notice their anxiety. You perceive it as far worse than your listeners do. It doesn’t really matter whether you’re anxious as long as you act calm.

2. Create positive body language

The grin is the most significant facial expression. This forges an immediate connection with your audience and will win them over. Use your facial expressions to emphasise important points: Your speech will look more believable as a result.

It’s important to stand up straight, space your feet slightly apart, and keep your arms at your sides. Do not sway or place your hands on your hips when speaking. You’ll come across as more assured and credible if you appear grounded. Avoid making “closed” motions like crossing your arms or knees or posing for a picture with your arms behind your back. A mental barrier is put up between you and your audience as a result.

3. Use gestures for achievement

To make your message easier for the audience to follow, use your arms and hands. Effective, self-assured body language captures listeners’ attention. Together, your body and words can convey a potent statement. Make sure to vary your gestures to avoid coming out as a robot.

To effectively emphasise ideas, adjust your body language to the size of the area you are working in. Make powerful motions when giving a speech! Tentative, hesitant acts might give you a doubtful, unconvincing appearance.

4. Make eye contact to captivate others.

Make as much eye contact with your audience as you can to engage them (and appear interested in them). Don’t only focus on one welcoming face. Make sure you engage the entire audience by looking at the folks at the rear and on the sides in addition to the front. Observe the crowd more intently than your notes. Not something you read from, notes should be prompt.

How to make a 3-minute speech interesting?

People worry that they will have to “dumb down” their important research due to time constraints, however, this is not the case!

A punchy message and an engaging brief speech can shed light on the breadth of your research and make the worth of your thoughts clear.

If you make the most of your three minutes and plan your speech effectively, you will have plenty of time to accomplish this.

  • Deliver a message that is quite obvious.
  • Present a “top and tail” component.
  • To clarify a complex concept, use metaphors and other verbal illustrations.
  • Instead of “making a formal speech,” speak as if you are having a conversation with your listeners.

  • A 3-minute speech on the topic “Life”.
Good morning to everyone in this room. I’m here today to speak about life and share my opinions with all of you. Life is a never-ending process that must come to an end eventually. Life is all about creating and adoring oneself. a quotation for you: “Life can only be comprehended by living it backwards.” The potential to live a meaningful life and help others do the same is presented by life itself. It makes no difference how long you live. However, how well you lead a good life matter. Death is a constant menace to our life. Everyone will eventually die, but that doesn’t mean we should stop trying to live life to the fullest or pursue our ambitions. A person is only intelligent when they are prepared to face their destiny when it calls, but in the meantime, they should cherish every moment. There is an air of preparation. Every person goes through a journey in life where they must cross the bridge of death in order to awaken to eternal life. Life itself is a genuinely priceless gift. Every moment we have in our life gives us the chance to do something to grow and display our virtues. Every instant unlocks the path for us to accept blessings. The reality is that both good and bad things happen to us in life. What matters most is how we respond. God has given us life as a gift in the hope that we will do our best to make it meaningful. Each of us is a special individual. Respect your uniqueness since no one was born exactly like you and no one ever will be. I frequently come across people who accuse God of something they themselves do not possess. They constantly curse their lives. But do they understand how priceless this life is in and of itself? If we make life worthwhile and strive diligently for positivity. Finally, I’ll say that we ought to make life valuable. Life should be made beautiful by the affection of our family and friends. By carrying out our responsibilities in our families, our workplaces, society, and the larger globe, life can be more beautiful and meaningful.

Speech On What Is friendship [1,2,3 Minutes]

What Is Friendship Speech: Choosing good friends is a must because it can make or break your identity in society. Friendship is not a blood relation but sometimes it is more than that. We share a relationship with our friends that is unconditional and unbound.

“A friend in need is a friend indeed”. This saying defines true friendship in fewer words. Truly, A true friend is one who not only stands there in your good moment but also supports and appreciate you in your hardships.

Friendship is the most transparent and divine relationship among all the other relations. It is considered the best life when someone has a lot of good friends. Friendship supports you in life not only in happy times but also in your hardships.

2 Minute Speech on What is Friendship

Greetings to everyone gathered here, I (your name) cordially welcome all of you. I also want to thank you for having me a chance to deliver a speech on friendship.

So, What is friendship? Did you ever try to define it? I know you all understand what friendship is and what is its significance. But to define friendship is a little bit hard because it can not be expressed through words. Every other person perceives friendship in a different way.

But we can explore the term- “Friendship” using our common sense that everyone will agree with. “A friend in need is a friend indeed”. This quotation defines true friendship in a few words. Actually, A true friend is one who not only stands there in your good moment but also gives you a shoulder to cry on in your hardships.

Your friends are your extended family . They treat you like your family members. They share mutual affection with you. They know your strengths, your weaknesses, your secrets, your emotions etc. They use to irritate you, they make fun of you, they fight with you, they laugh with you, they weep with you. But what is hidden here is They love you in every act.

True friendship suggests having a connection free of any rules. It is free from any judgments and it gives you a sense of feeling loved and accepted. True friends are rare to find and you are destined enough to have them.

Concluding, having a good friendship that inspires you, supports you, and always stands by you at difficult times is luck. Sometimes this friendship is found more than blood relationships.

I stop here to give others a chance. I hope you like my words. Thank you so much.

3 Minute Speech on What is Friendship

If I ask you whose company you like the most? I am sure that most of you will say “friends”. That is the importance of friendship. Our friends know us more than our family. Aren’t you agree?

There are tons of relationships in the world but friendship is above all. That is because any relationship can fetch you boredom but friendship will not. You enjoy the world the most when you are with your friends. They multiply your happiness & cut down your sorrow.

You will find a range of definitions of friendship in the dictionary, but the truth is that it can not be defined in words. Obviously, you can describe friendship in your own way but it can not have a proper definition. That is because everybody perceives friendship in his/her own way.

Your friends do not pass judgements on you but it does not mean that they accept your negative points. Rather, they get you out of your negative things without judging you. They appreciate your achievements without being jealous. They inspire you to turn your weaknesses into strengths.

Your friends are your extended family. They treat you like your family members. They share mutual affection with you. They know your strengths, your weaknesses, your secrets, your emotions etc.

They use to irritate you, they make fun of you, they fight with you, they laugh with you, they weep with you. But what is hidden here is they love you in every act.

To sum it up, friendship keeps us stay strong in life. Having a caring family is all okay but you also need true friendship in life to be perfectly happy.

“When upon Life’s Billows”: Take a Friend

Beth vaughan cole.

Dean of the BYU College of Nursing

April 8, 2008

Thank you, Vice President Rogers, for your kind introduction. The music was beautiful. Brothers and sisters, honored guests, my esteemed colleagues and staff, and my dear, treasured students: welcome. It is an honor to be speaking to you today.

Many of you were present on January 15 of this year when President Henry B. Eyring gave his address about the trials that people face over a lifetime. He named three:

First: We can feel overcome with pain and sorrow at the death of a loved one.

Second: Each of us will struggle against fierce opposition—some of which comes from dealing with our physical needs and some from enemies.

Third: Each of us who live past the age of accountability will feel the need to escape from the effects of sin. [“ The Power of Deliverance ,” BYU devotional, 15 January 2008]

Every loving parent and every loving adult in this room would like to protect you from the harsh trials that life will present to you, but we know no one who has escaped the difficult vicissitudes of life. We want you to be strong. We want you to know how to manage any difficulty that might come your way. We want you to be resilient when you are faced with life’s trials. How do we help you develop those qualities? We can’t and shouldn’t make all your choices for you—that will not make you strong. So we give to you what wisdom we have gleaned along our paths through life. My task today is to share with you some of that wisdom.

Over the past 10 years I have been involved in the lives of people who have experienced the death of a loved one. Helping them address the grief and bereavement and adjustments in their lives has been a tender, spiritual, and inspiring experience. As President Eyring noted, we will all have trials. Some of them will be to adjust to the deaths of loved ones in our lives.

David Balk’s research at Kansas State University reports that 25 percent of college students experienced the death of a family member in the past year and that 30 percent experienced the death of a friend in that same time period (see David E. Balk and Laura C. Vesta, “Psychological Development During Four Years of Bereavement: A Longitudinal Case Study,” Death Studies 22, no. 1 [January–February 1998]: 23–41). Mild, moderate, or severe grief can interfere with learning, with interpersonal relationships, and with sleeping, eating, and personal growth. Death is the last taboo of our American society. We can talk about it in the third person, and we can talk about it in movies, textbooks, and literature, but it is still very difficult to talk about it in everyday life. Many people will need a friend or friends during difficult times—they’ll need someone they can talk to about the trials they are experiencing.

I have entitled my talk “‘When upon Life’s Billows’: Take a Friend.” Many of you are familiar with Johnson Oatman Jr.’s hymn “Count Your Blessings.” The first verse is:

When upon life’s billows you are tempest-tossed,

When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,

Count your many blessings; name them one by one,

And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.

[ Hymns, 1985, no. 241 ]

Friendship is one of the greatest blessings we can have. Our friends provide comfort and counsel. They accept—or at least tolerate—our peculiarities and often laugh spontaneously at our jokes. Most of all, they are really quite forgiving of our imperfections.

A dear friend gave me a bowl decorated with a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson. It says, “A friend may well be reckoned the masterpiece of Nature” (“Friendship,” Essays: First Series [1841]). In truth, a friend may well be a divine masterpiece. Professionally, I have worked as a college faculty member in psychiatric–mental health nursing. I have studied human relationships and health for decades. Research from the past 30 years on social support and health offers strong evidence for a positive relationship between social support and the outcomes of many health-related variables. Friendships, along with kinship or family relationships, are the most researched social relationships. Today I want to focus on friendship.

In particular, I want to talk about four aspects of friendship that I hope will offer some assistance to you throughout your life: (1) make friends, (2) make friends with a wide variety of people, (3) make your spouse your friend, and (4) make Christ your friend.

Make Friends

Most of you in this room are young. I hope that you have traversed the rocky road of adolescent friendships and are now ready for mature, reciprocal friendships. Mature relationships are precious. At this time in your lives, developing adult friendships may be complicated by the goal to find “the right one.” You are anxious about whether you will ever find your “perfect love,” “soul mate,” and “lifelong partner.” For many of you, one of your goals for your time at BYU is to find a partner. And I am in support of that goal. It will happen for many of you, and it will be a great blessing in your lives.

But in your search for your partner, I hope that you will have time to make friends—good friends, maybe even lifelong friends. You can learn so much from them. Not all friendships become lifelong relationships, but friends can be the connections between all of us. Recently my ward bishop, Robert Merkley, gave one of the most eloquent and spiritual talks I have ever heard about loving one another and about Christ’s love for us. He exhorted those listening to learn to truly love their brothers and sisters here on earth. I believe the Savior’s teaching that we must love one another was pervasive and unlimited. Yes, our most important relationships will and should be those in our families, but friendships outside of our families can be very important and beautiful as well.

There are scriptures that support the importance of good friendships:

  • Exodus 33:11 : “And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend.”
  • 1 Samuel 18:1 : “And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.”
  • Mark 5:19 : Christ said to a man whom He had just rid of unclean spirits, “Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.”
  • John 11:5 : “Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.”
  • John 11:11 : “These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.”
  • John 11:35 : When Jesus came to the grave where Lazarus lay, “Jesus wept.”
  • John 15:13 : “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

I believe that Jesus’ friendships were deep, profound, and of great importance to Him.

Friendships take time and attention to develop, although I have observed that the process may not take as much time as you might think. I have seen 15 minutes of honest exchange make deep changes in a life. I know long talks can change lives as well. A friend is kind to you, knows and likes you, and wishes the best for you.

The scriptures talk about loving your neighbor. There may be a difference between a neighbor and a friend, but I don’t think anyone would question that the good Samaritan described in Luke 10:29–37 was truly a friend to the man from Jericho. You know the story: A man from Jericho fell among thieves and was beaten. A priest and a Levite both passed the wounded man, and neither offered help.

But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise. [ Luke 10:33–37 ]

I think there is a very simple test for determining if someone is a good friend. Does your association with that person make you a better person? Does he or she inspire you to be the best that you can be? Does your friendship with that person sustain you during difficult times? Do you desire to make the world a better place for your friend? Do take time to make friends.

Make Friends with a Wide Variety of People

The second point I would like to make is that we should make friends with all different types of people. There is often a great deal of loneliness on a campus this large. While talking to new people may be easy for some, for others it takes an extraordinary effort. Some people are self-conscious and painfully shy. As a mother I was aware of such diversities in my children, who are different from each other in their abilities to make friends. When they were young, two of my children could keep a room of people engaged and entertained, while the other two were quieter in temperament. One ran into the library and hid under a table when asked to read an essay at school. They have all matured now and all have friends, but, most important of all, they are friends to each other.

Even with our similarities, we as humans have many differences. If you are gregarious, take the time to befriend a quieter person—you can learn that quietness and silence are great teachers. If you are on the shy side, make the effort to get to know a few others; someone who is more outgoing could teach you how to speak up and be responsive in a group. Learn from each other.

I have noticed that there are some people who attract a large group of friends. Sometimes they attract more people than they can truly, reasonably spend a lot of time with. Often people who want to be their friend are offended when they do not receive the attention they would like. Don’t be offended. Remember: friendships take time and nurturing. There are so many others who would love to have you for a friend and spend time with you. If you take offense that you have been left out or ignored, you will not be ready to see the possibilities for friendships with the people around you.

In The Weight of Glory, C. S. Lewis wrote:

It is a serious thing to live in a society of possible gods and goddesses, to remember that the dullest and most uninteresting person you talk to may one day be a creature which, if you saw it now, you would be strongly tempted to worship. . . . It is in the light of these overwhelming possibilities, it is with the awe and the circumspection proper to them, that we should conduct all our dealings with one another, all friendships, all loves, all play, all politics. There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal. . . . Your neighbour is the holiest object presented to your senses. [C. S. Lewis, The Weight of Glory and Other Addresses (New York: Macmillan, 1949), 14–15; emphasis in original]

Make friends with a wide variety of people.

Make Your Spouse Your Friend

The third issue regarding friendship that I would like to discuss is that of making your spouse your friend. Some of you may marry someone you have known since you were children together, but most of you will not. You will marry someone you have gotten to know within months, or even a few years, before you marry. While your affection for one another is a good beginning for a strong relationship, it may take more to sustain a lifelong relationship. Hopefully the years will open up a wealth of experiences that you can share. But becoming true friends with each other will take time. Take time to listen to each other’s concerns, dreams, and interests; plan things together; and support each other as best you can. Include each other in your everyday lives. Learn to appreciate that your spouse is unique and different from you and seek to understand him or her, even if you disagree. Encourage your spouse to develop his or her talents and interests, but also do things you both enjoy together. Again, remember that it takes time to make and keep a friend.

My husband and I have nearly raised our children, and now we have more time to nurture our relationship. Boy, was I clever! I married an amazing person—he gets better and better as I get to know him. I enjoy talking to him, listening to him, and just being with him. We don’t agree on everything, but we do agree on the important things. I wish you well in making your spouse your best friend.

Make Christ Your Friend

The last issue I would like to address about friendship is that precious relationship you have with Christ. Some of you may know the song “What a Friend We Have in Jesus,” with words by Joseph M. Scriven and music by Charles C. Converse:

What a friend we have in Jesus,

All our sins and griefs to bear!

What a privilege to carry

Everything to God in prayer!

Oh, what peace we often forfeit,

Oh, what needless pain we bear,

All because we do not carry

The song implores us to take our grief, our sorrow, and our burdens to the Lord in prayer. He truly is our friend, and we can take our troubles to Him. He can be the friend we need.

Christ’s atoning sacrifice is the essential cornerstone of our lives:

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. [ John 3:16 ]

Through His atoning sacrifice we are made whole. It is a very unique and transforming experience to know and understand Christ’s gift to us. Does it change you to know Him? What have you done because you know Him?

When I was a little older than most of you students, I moved to Utah from back East. I had made wonderful girlfriends in Boston, and a group of us moved from Boston to the West. (We’ve stayed in contact—many of us are dear friends today.) One of my friends had taken a position as a schoolteacher in Cokeville, Wyoming, and five of us planned a wonderful outing to visit her there for one day in May. We planned to go horseback riding in the afternoon, stay overnight, and return to Salt Lake the next day.

We arrived in the late morning, and within a short while we got into our friend’s very large Cadillac to drive to the riding stables, which were just over a mountain pass about 45 minutes away. It was cool in the morning, but by the time we left it was warm and pleasant. Some of us were dressed for riding—wearing boots, long pants, and a coat. Others had sneakers and sweaters. The car easily held all six of us.

We began the climb over the pass. As we made a turn, we saw an eagle in the road. It took off and soared in slow, arcing circles. It was a spectacular sight—a great omen for a wonderful day ahead, right? As we climbed higher, snow started to dot the sides of the road. The road started turning to mush, and it was getting harder to go forward. Even though we were still going up, we thought we must have been getting close to our destination. Eventually the car would go no farther—it was so mired in mud that we could not move it forward or backward. We tried everything we could think to do.

Because we were almost there, we got out and started walking toward the stables. We walked for a couple of hours, and it was hard in the muck and snow. We couldn’t see any stables, houses, or any kind of shelter, and it was starting to get cold—it even starting snowing. We knew we needed to get back to the car for safety for the night, so we headed back.

By the time we got there, it was dark. We spent the night in the car. The only food we had was a box of cereal and a few candies, but our spirits were still high. We stayed warm by turning the heater on and off, and we tried to sleep, but, as you can imagine, it did not come easily. We prayed simply and earnestly for help and courage to handle the situation.

As the sun came up the next morning, we still couldn’t get the car out. One person was only wearing sneakers, and her feet had become red and blistered from all the walking the previous day. She was unable to walk easily or quickly. Another friend stayed with her in the car while four of us started to walk back in the direction we had come.

We had walked for about an hour or two when we came upon two fishermen. They told us that they could not drive us out to the town from where they were because the roads needed to dry before their jeep could get out. They had been camping and had a campfire and food; they generously prepared a wonderful breakfast for us.

A little later, one of the men took the jeep and went in search of our car. He returned with my other two friends, who had started to walk; they were hobbling as they got out of the car. As these men were feeding my friends, one of them heated a pot of water, and after it was warm he had my friends sit down. He took each of my friends’ feet and washed them, putting some salve on their sores and blisters and socks on their feet. The tender comfort and healing efforts of these two men was in similitude of our Savior. I don’t know these men. The only piece of information that I remember was that they worked for the Ogden Standard-Examiner. A couple of hours later they drove us to my friend’s house, and we returned to Salt Lake later that day.

As I recall that day, I don’t remember being afraid or even worried very much. Three decades later, I remember vividly not the near tragedy but the beautiful image of true compassion—a compassionate man washing the feet of a stranger.

I am very grateful for my wonderful friends. I ask those of you who know Christ, who believe in Christ, and who have faith in Christ to let His example help you be a friend to others. Make a wide variety of friends. Make your spouse your friend. And, without question, make Christ your friend. I say this in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Speech on My Friend

Your friend is like a mirror, reflecting your joys and sorrows. They are the ones who stand by you in thick and thin. In the second paragraph, we will talk about the importance of a friend in your life. Their role is not just limited to sharing laughter and tears, but extends to shaping your personality and life.

1-minute Speech on My Friend

In the first place, my friend is a great listener. When I’m sad or worried, he’s always there. He doesn’t interrupt me, but lets me pour out my feelings. His ears are like a safe box, where I can store all my secrets.

Next, my friend is like a book, full of interesting stories. He makes my life colorful with his exciting tales. He’s like the sun, brightening my day with his cheerful personality.

Moreover, my friend is a strong tree, providing me shelter. In times of trouble, he stands by me, giving me support and strength. His loyalty is like a rock, unshaken by any storm.

In conclusion, my friend is a treasure, more valuable than gold. He’s not just a friend, but a brother, a mentor, and a guide. He makes my life richer and happier. I’m truly blessed to have such a friend. So, let’s appreciate our friends, who make our lives beautiful. Thank you.

2-minute Speech on My Friend

Today, I stand before you to speak about a topic that is close to my heart and is universal – ‘My Friend’. Friendship is a bond that connects us all, a bond that is as unique as it is beautiful.

My friend is like a shining star in the dark sky of life. Just like a star, my friend shines brightest when the night is darkest. When I am sad or feeling down, it is my friend who lifts my spirits. It is my friend who makes me laugh when I am upset, who wipes away my tears when I am crying. My friend is the one who is always there for me, no matter what.

My friend is not just a friend, but a teacher too. From my friend, I have learned many valuable lessons of life. I have learned to be kind, to be patient, to be forgiving. I have learned to stand up for what I believe in and to never give up, no matter how tough the situation is. My friend has taught me that it’s okay to make mistakes, as long as we learn from them.

Just like a tree, my friend provides me with shade when the sun is too harsh. When life gets tough and the heat of problems becomes unbearable, it is my friend who provides me with comfort and relief. My friend is my shelter in the storm, my shield in the battle of life.

But most importantly, my friend is my partner in fun and adventure. Together, we have created countless memories that I will cherish forever. Our laughter, our shared secrets, our silly fights, and our endless talks – these are the moments that make our friendship special.

In conclusion, my friend is my guiding star, my teacher, my shelter, my mirror, and my partner in adventure. My friend is not just a part of my life, but a part of me. My friend makes me a better person and makes my life more meaningful.

FriendShip

Friendship Speech 2

Good morning to the Excellencies, respected teachers and my colleagues, at this great occasion I would like to speech on the friendship. I have especially selected this topic to keep my views in front of you about the value and importance of friendship. Friendship is the purest forms of relation exist between two, three or more people. Getting a true, sincere and loving friend in this world is really the matter of luck. True friendship is a special gift from God to one of us who get it. True friends make our meaningless life meaningful and show us a true path of success in the life. They are friends who make our journey of life easy, joyous and vibrant. They never laugh at our mistakes instead they lead us on right path by continuous support.

True friends always become free for their friends and ready to help them in their difficult times of life even after being involved in the busy schedule. Friendship is a truly priceless relation in this world which can never be bought or sold to anyone. It depends on the true love created in the heart of people involved in the friendship. It never depends on the materialistic pleasure of the world. Genuine friends are the real happiness of the life who never forget each other and always support. We as a human being always get problems in the life time to time according to the situation and get difficulty in living the social life which needs emotional and moral support. In such conditions, our true friends plays great role and take us out of the difficulties. A life without true friend is considered as incomplete life. It does not matter that you have a happy and luxurious life however it matters when you does not have any true friends all through the life.

A good friend is one whom we can share every small and big happiness, secrets and problems of life without any hesitation. Friendship is a relation which prevents us from the emotional problems as it promotes us to share our inner thoughts and feelings. True friends never criticize their friends instead they help them to come out of the shortcomings. They guide them like a tunnel of light whenever one follows wrong path. True friends always understand full rights of them on their friends and advice them truly to chose right path. They take our every mistake seriously and try to show us right way in right direction. We can say that true friend is more precious than any priceless gem in the world.

Friendship Speech 3

Good morning to the Excellencies, respected teachers and my lovely friends. The topic of my speech today is friendship. As we all know that true friendship is a precious gift in the life. As being a social animal we cannot live our life alone. We naturally get attracted towards each other according to our need and requirement and in the particular course of time our intimacy grows between us which remains for long time. There exists high level of trust between each other which is called friendship. Generally, persons of the same age, similar passions, emotions, sentiments and status gets involved in the friendship however it is completely independent of the age, sex, social status, etc. True friendship can be between two people of any age, religion, caste, sex, and social status.

Friendship is a true relation required by all of us for our goodness. We all need company of true friends whole life to pass our days cheerfully. They stand with us together in our all happy and bad days as well as give us real joy in life by sharing our happy and sad moments. The example of real friendship is very rare to see in the life. The true and historical friendship we know ever is the friendship of Krishna and Sudama. Some people become very selfish and do friendship with rich, clever and high social status people only for their own benefits. Such friends never support in bad times of the life instead always want to get benefited by them. They leave their friends in bad times however true friends never leave their friends alone and help them whenever they need.

Many selfish people make rounds of the good people to make friendship with them. The recognition of true friends become only in bad times as true friends never left alone and bad friends always do opposite. We should take caution of such selfish friends while making friendship to them anytime in the life. Real friends always help their friends whenever they become in need. There is a common saying about true friendship “A friend in need is a friend indeed” and “Fortune brings friends but adversity tries them”.

True friends have good character, good feelings and well wishes about their friends. They never try to give pain to their friends in the life instead they help them always by being in touch forever. True friendship has no any blood relation however does more than any blood relation.

Friendship Speech 4

Good morning to the Excellencies, respected teachers and my dear friends. I would like to speech on the topic of friendship. First of all I would like to say lots of thanks to my class teacher who has given me such a great chance to speech at this occasion. Friendship is one of the most precious and beautiful relationships in this world. This relationship is not a blood relation however do a lot more than all blood relations which we cannot imagine and express into words. Real and true friends become the pillar of strength for us who always give us needed emotional support and physical support. True friends never feel bad in spending their precious time and feel greatest joys of them whenever their friends need help in bad moments of life. It is very tough to get true friendship in this world however not impossible. We should not get tired and always search for the good friends throughout the life because it is hard to get but not impossible.

True friends always become together throughout the life together with fulfilling their responsibilities towards their family. Friendship is a lovely relationship memorizes us with sweet moments all through the life. We see movies, listen songs, see TV serials, eat food, study and other works together without any hassle. Some questions arises in the mind of everyone such as why good friends are necessary in the life, why true friends have more value than other relations in our life, what is the truth of this invisible bond which holds two or more friends together for years or lifetime, what lessons a true friendship teaches us and so many questions.

Trust is very necessary in all relations however it comes naturally in the matter of friendship. True friendship goes on forever with the mutual trust and proper understanding. Trust and understanding increases when relationship becomes deep and mature with time. Sometimes our best friends take deeper place in our heart more than our parents, brothers and sisters. We always believe on our best friends and follow their judgement blindly with the confidence that they never lead us on wrong way.

We always remember all the nice moments with friends such as sharing toys, favourite possessions, lunch boxes, clothes, books, home works, etc. The habit of sharing with friends teaches us of being unselfish and generous whole life.

Biden's bad week just got worse after he said he was the 'first Black woman to serve with a Black president'

  • Joe Biden said in an interview he was "proud" to be the "first Black woman to serve with a Black president."
  • It comes just days after Biden's disastrous debate with former President Donald Trump.
  • Biden has said he needs to get more sleep and stop holding events after 8 p.m., reports say.

Insider Today

Joe Biden 's argument that his disastrous debate performance last week was a one-off is seemingly falling apart.

In his latest verbal slipup, the president said he was "proud" to be the "first Black woman to serve with a Black president."

The 81-year-old president mixed up his words during an interview with Philadelphia's Wurd radio station when referring to his vice president, Kamala Harris, and former President Barack Obama.

"By the way, I'm proud to be, as I said, the first vice president, first Black woman, to serve with a Black president," he said.

Biden likely jumbled the sentence because he'd earlier spoken about being the first vice president to serve under a Black president.

Earlier in the interview, he also spoke about how he was the first president to have a Black woman as vice president and had appointed Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, the first Black woman to serve on the Supreme Court.

It comes just days after Biden's debate with former US president Donald Trump, which was marked by verbal gaffes and confusing statements.

Biden digs in despite lapses, alarming polls, doubts: 6 takeaways from ABC interview

a 3 minute speech about friendship

WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden  dismissed concerns about his mental fitness Friday and rejected calls to drop out of the 2024 election as he pushed back at detractors in perhaps the most consequential television interview of his presidency.

Biden, in an interview with ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos that aired on primetime television, reiterated he won't withdraw from the race following his disastrous debate last week, downplaying his performance as a "bad night" because of fatigue and a "really bad cold."

The 22-minute interview was Biden's first on television since his dismal debate performance in which the incumbent president struggled to complete thoughts, finish sentences and rebut claims made by former President Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee.

Here are six takeaways from the interview, which was taped during Biden's campaign visit Friday afternoon to Madison, Wisconsin.

Biden says he won't even entertain exiting race

Biden dug in as Stephanopoulos repeatedly pressed Biden whether he would end his candidacy if Democratic congressional leaders came to him to convince him he can't defeat Trump in November.

"Well, if the Lord Almighty comes down and tells me to do that, I might do that," Biden said, later insisting that his Democratic allies aren't going to demand that he exit.

"I'm not going to answer that question. It's not going to happen," Biden said. "I've not seen what you're proposing."

Biden said he's seen concerns about his candidacy "from the press," but not heard it from most Democrats.

Five Democratic members of Congress have publicly called for Biden to drop out of the race. The Washington Post reported Friday that U.S. Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., is working on assembling a group of Democratic senators to ask Biden to exit the presidential race

Biden won't commit to a cognitive test

Biden said he has not taken a neurological or cognitive test to measure his mental fitness, nor would he commit to an independent medical evaluation that includes such an exam.

"No, no one said I had to. They said I'm good," Biden said, adding that he takes a cognitive test "every single day" given the demands and responsibilities of being president.

More: Biden refuses to say whether he'd take independent cognitive test and make results public

"Everything I do, I have that test," Biden said. "Not only am I campaigning but I'm running the world."

Asked again whether he would take a cognitive test to assure Americans of his health, Biden again refused.

"Watch me. There's a lot of time left in this campaign. It's over 125 days."

Biden says he doesn't believe polls showing him losing

Despite Trump leading Biden in virtually all national polls and in most battleground states Biden said he doesn't believe he's currently losing.

"I don't buy that," Biden said. "All the pollsters I talk to tell me it's a toss-up."

Biden also said he doesn't buy that his approval rating is as low as 36%, which some polls have found.

"I don't believe that's my approval rating. That's not what our polls show," he said.

Even before Biden's disastrous debate, Democrats were growing more nervous about a second Trump presidency because of polls showing Biden consistently behind the former president.

When asked whether he's being honest with himself about his ability to beat Trump, Biden responded: "Yes, yes, yes, yes.''

"Look, I remember them telling me the same thing in 2020 − the polls show I can't win," Biden said.

At the end of his interview, Biden gave an answer that is sure to upset his detractors on how he would feel in January if Trump wins the election.

“I’ll feel as long as I gave it my all and I did as good a job as I know I can do, that’s what this is about," Biden said.

'I'm still in good shape,' Biden insists

Biden insisted that he's in good enough physical and mental condition to serve in the White House another four years.

"Can I run a hundred in 10 flat? No. But I'm still in good shape," said Biden, who spoke clearer than he did in the debate but still sounded hoarse at times.

Biden said he is not frail or in worse condition than when he entered the White House three and a half years ago.

"I wouldn't be running if I didn't think I did," he said about whether he can serve another four years, which would make him 86 years old at the end of his term.

Stephanopoulos asked if Biden was being honest with himself.

"Yes, I am. George, the last thing I want to do is not being able to meet that," Biden said.

Biden says he hasn't watched the debate

Biden said he hasn't watched his heavily criticized debate, which was now eight days ago.

"I don't think I did − no," Biden said.

Biden said his performance was "nobody's fault but mine," and that he prepared for it by going over material in "explicit detail," like he does for meetings with foreign leaders with his National Security Council.

Biden said he had trouble keeping up with all of Trump's lies.

Biden was asked about recent comments from former Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi calling it a "legitimate question" to ask whether Biden's debate performance was a "bad episode" or a sign of a more serious "condition."

"It was a bad episode," Biden said. "No indication of a more serious condition. I was exhausted. I didn't listen to my instincts in terms of preparing. I had a bad night."

Biden says recent travel made him tired because of 'really bad cold'

Biden was pressed how could have been tired from recent overseas travel − which he has claimed − when he returned to the United States 12 days before the debate took place.

"Because I was sick. I was feeling terrible," he said, adding that he felt so bad that he had his doctors test him for COVID and other viruses, which turned out negative. "They just said I had a really bad cold."

Biden spent the six days leading up to the debate at the Camp David presidential retreat preparing with top White House aides.

President Biden made several odd gaffes and misstatements throughout the official White House Fourth of July celebration, appearing confused at times and puzzlingly greeting the crowd with a hearty “Ho ho ho! Happy Independence Day!”

The president, 81, and first lady Jill Biden were joined on stage by Vice President Kamala Harris and second gentleman Doug Emhoff. Harris introduced the “extraordinary” President Biden who then began a short statement of well-wishing for the holiday.

Biden looked more sprightly than during his much-maligned June 27 debate performance. But his statements weren’t much more coherent despite being louder in volume.

US President Joe Biden speaks during a barbeque for active-duty military families in honor of the Fourth of July on the South Lawn of the White House

“We gotta do what our founders did: show the world we’re a nation of dignity, honor, and just devotion to one another,” he said before telling the audience to enjoy the fireworks.

As Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USA” blared, the group made their way off the stage.

Biden, bringing up the rear, suddenly paused his gait mid-step, seemingly unsure to whom he should hand the microphone.

He then took a few slow steps across the stage, now by himself, before handing off the mic to a stagehand.

He then slowly descended a short flight of stairs before mingling with the crowd.

U.S. President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden host a July Fourth barbecue for active-duty U.S. military members and their families at the White House in Washington, U.S., July 4, 2024.

Earlier in the day,  Biden seemingly lost his train of thought  as he stumbled through his very brief speech at a White House barbeque — bizarrely claiming that highway congestion no longer exists and nearly calling nemesis Donald Trump his “colleague.”

“I probably shouldn’t even say that … anyway,” the commander in chief said after the latter bumble to a crowd of military service members and their families.

Biden trailed off several times in his four-minute speech, which was peppered with slurring, despite having a teleprompter at his disposal.

The Democrat focused his remarks on his visit last month to Normandy , to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day and the “heroes” who gave their life for democracy.

Biden compared World War I to the modern-day presidential race, questioning whether Americans would be willing to make the same sacrifice in his race against Trump — before starting — and abruptly stopping — a dig at the presumptive Republican nominee.

“By the way, I was in that World War I cemetery in France, and one that my colleagues, the former president, didn’t want to go and be up there,” Biden said before giving up and admitting he shouldn’t have made the comment.

He also strangely claimed he was “in and out of battle” on the trip, another statement he suddenly cut short before pivoting with his favorite segue: “Anyway.”

Biden then left the stage to a round of hefty applause but grabbed the microphone for another 30-second encore in which he said traffic is no longer an issue — something New Yorkers would beg to differ.

“One last thing, and I used to think when I was a senator, there were always congestion on the highways. There’s no congestion anymore. We go on the highway, there’s no congestion,” Biden said.

“And so what? The way they get me to stop talking, they’ll say, ‘We just shut down all the roads, Mr. President, you’re gonna lose all the votes if you don’t get in. But anyway, I’ll be back out,” he nonsensically added.

The White House did not respond to The Post’s request for comment regarding Biden’s odd remarks.

The all-over-the-place speech comes amid rumors from establishment Democrats that the party is considering replacing the bumbling and aging president.

Former Obama presidential adviser Van Jones said Thursday that the party is now in “full-scale panic” following Biden’s highly criticized debate performance against former President Donald Trump last week.

Biden had a series of gaffes throughout the 90-minute debate — including saying his son Beau “died in Iraq” and that he “beat Medicare” while also appearing to freeze at one point.

U.S. Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell has warned the Fed is facing a "critical" period that could ... [+] cause bitcoin price chaos.

"The level of debt we have is completely sustainable but the path we are on is unsustainable," Powell said during the European Central Bank's Portugal conference, it was reported by the Financial Times , adding the Biden administration was taking excessive risks by "running a very large deficit at a time when we are at full employment" and said "you can’t run these levels in good economic times for very long."

In May, Treasury secretary Janet Yellen issued a serious warning over the spiraling $34 trillion U.S. debt pile that some think could help propel the bitcoin price to $1 million over the next 18 months .

Bitcoin, crypto and stock market traders have been closely watching the Fed for signs it will begin cutting interest rates in recent months, with analysts forced to dial back expectations of around seven cuts in 2024 to just one or two.

"Getting the balance on monetary policy right during this critical period, that’s really what I think about in the wee hours," Powell said in response to a question about his top worries, the AP reported .

07/04 update: The bitcoin price and crypto market has suffered a major crash over the last 24 hours, with the bitcoin price diving well under $60,000 and wiping $200 billion from the combined crypto market since July 1. Ethereum Ethereum and the rest of the major market are down more steeply than bitcoin, with ethereum rival solana, the Telegram-linked toncoin and the meme-based dogecoin all down almost 10% since this time yesterday.

"Bitcoin is breaking significant technical and psychological levels at $60,000," Markus Thielen, the founder of 10x Research, wrote in emailed comments.

"This is a key level for bitcoin miners and bitcoin spot exchange-traded fund (ETF) buyers, and it also broadly marks the bottom (support) of the three-month trading range. Price declines could accelerate as support gets broken and sellers scramble to find liquidity. Only ill-informed traders are willing to buy here. Breaking this support could cause a sharp decline to the low $50,000s."

Last month, the Federal Reserve left interest rates unchanged and signaled it would make just one cut in 2024, with more to come in 2025. The Fed has come under pressure to cut interest rates after hiking them at a record-setting clip in the aftermath of huge Covid-era stimulus spending and money printing that sent inflation spiraling out of control.

"Powell said the U.S. was back on a ‘disinflationary path’ but added that more data was required before the Fed would consider cutting rates," Russ Mould, investment director at AJ Bell, said in emailed comments. "The latter phrase sounds a bit like a broken record as far as the market is concerned, so the most important part of Powell’s speech was the reference to disinflation, as investors interpreted it to mean there is a stronger case for cutting rates soon."

Eyes are now turning to Wednesday's release of the Fed's June meeting minutes and Friday's jobs report which could "cement" expectations of a September interest rate cut if it shows hiring has slowed.

"A softer-than-expected jobs report on Friday, were it to come to pass, would likely further cement the case for said cut, to which markets assign a roughly 70% chance—perhaps, a touch underdone," Michael Brown, senior research strategist at Pepperstone, told MarketWatch .

The bitcoin price has dropped back from its recent peak of over $70,000 per bitcoin.

The higher-for-longer interest rate environment has triggered a warning from analysts at the world's largest asset manager BlackRock, who said an "unprecedented" scenario is unfolding that could hit the bitcoin price and crypto market .

"We see central banks forced to keep interest rates higher than pre-pandemic to tackle persistent inflationary pressures," the analysts at BlackRock, which has helped to engineer a bitcoin price boom this year by leading a spot bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) revolution on Wall Street , wrote in a report .

Biden Stumbles Over His Words as He Tries to Steady Re-Election Campaign

The president’s appearances have come under intense scrutiny since he appeared feeble in his debate against former President Donald J. Trump.

  • Share full article

President Biden standing among a large group of people.

By Michael D. Shear

Reporting from Washington

  • July 4, 2024

President Biden sought to steady his re-election campaign by talking with two Black radio hosts for interviews broadcast on Thursday, but he spoke haltingly at points during one interview and struggled to find the right phrase in the other, saying that he was proud to have been “the first Black woman to serve with a Black president.”

He also stumbled over his words during a four-minute Fourth of July speech to military families at the White House, beginning a story about former President Donald J. Trump, calling him “one of our colleagues, the former president” and then adding, “probably shouldn’t say, at any rate” before abruptly ending the story and moving on.

Mr. Biden made the mistake on WURD radio, based in Philadelphia, as he tried to deliver a line that he has repeated before about having pride in serving as vice president for President Barack Obama. Earlier in the interview, he boasted about appointing the first Black woman to the Supreme Court and picking the first Black woman to be vice president.

The president also made a mistake earlier in the interview when he asserted that he had been the first president elected statewide in Delaware. He appeared to mean that he was the first Catholic in the state to be elected statewide, going on to speak admiringly of John F. Kennedy, a Catholic.

Mr. Biden and his top aides have said the president’s activities in the coming days are part of a series of campaign efforts designed to prove to voters, donors and activists that the president’s debate debacle was nothing more than what he has called “a bad night.”

Ammar Moussa, a spokesman for Mr. Biden’s campaign, criticized the news media for making note of the president’s stumbles.
