Educational reports cover a variety of topics, from feedback about a teaching session to reports on the need for additional classrooms and resources. Regardless of the topic of your educational report, you want to make it logical and understandable so your reader sees why you are making certain recommendations. Crafting an educational report becomes easier when you break it down into steps and present your findings in order.

Contextualize the topic of your educational report. Before you begin writing, think about your audience and what they need to know to understand your educational report. This can be done in two or three sentences, as it is an overview, with the details coming later.

Introduce your topic details and indicate your developmental plans for addressing the issues. In each section of your educational report, cover the five "Ws:" who, what, when, where and why. Define any terms your reader may not understand.

Use a top-down formula. Start with the most important points you want to cover in your educational report and then move to topics of lesser concern. When you change ideas, start a new paragraph.

Draft your report in easy-to-understand English. Vary your sentence length and don’t use a big word when a small one will do.

Read your educational report aloud. Listen to how it sounds in terms of professional tone. Put yourself in your reader’s place and assess how you would receive the information. Edit accordingly.

Polish your educational report. Leave your report for a day or so and then return to it with fresh eyes. Correct any typing or grammar mistakes. If you have concerns, ask a colleague with good editing skills to review your report.

Whether you’re a student or a professional, a visit report helps you document the procedures and processes at an industrial or corporate location. These reports are fairly straightforward. Describe the site first and explain what you did while you were there. If required, reflect on what you learned during your visit. No additional research or information is needed.

Writing a Visit Report

Explain the site's purpose, operations, and what happened during the visit. Identify the site's strengths and weaknesses, along with your recommendations for improvement. Include relevant photos or diagrams to supplement your report.

Describing the Site

• Reports are usually only 2-3 pages long, but in some cases, these reports may be much longer.
• In some cases, you may be asked to give recommendations or opinions about the site. In other cases, you will be asked only to describe the site.
• Ask your boss or instructor for models of other visit reports. If you can't get a model, look up samples online.

• If you visited a factory, explain what it is producing and what equipment it uses.
• If you visited a construction site, describe what is being constructed and how far along the construction is. You should also describe the terrain of the site and the layout.
• If you’re visiting a business, describe what the business does. State which department or part of the business you visited.
• If you’re visiting a school, identify which grades they teach. Note how many students attend the school. Name the teachers whose classes you observed.

• Who did you talk to? What did they tell you?
• What did you see at the site?
• What events took place? Did you attend a seminar, Q&A session, or interview?
• Did you see any demonstrations of equipment or techniques?

• For example, at a car factory, describe whether the cars are made by robots or humans. Describe each step of the assembly line.
• If you're visiting a business, talk about different departments within the business. Describe their corporate structure and identify what programs they use to conduct their business.

Reflecting on Your Visit

• Is there something you didn’t realize before that you learned while at the site?
• Who at the site provided helpful information?
• What was your favorite part of the visit and why?

• For example, you might state that the factory uses the latest technology but point out that employees need more training to work with the new equipment.
• If there was anything important left out of the visit, state what it was. For example, maybe you were hoping to see the main factory floor or to talk to the manager.

• Tailor your recommendations to the organization or institution that owns the site. What is practical and reasonable for them to do to improve their site?
• Be specific. Don’t just say they need to improve infrastructure. State what type of equipment they need or give advice on how to improve employee morale.

Formatting Your Report

• If you are following a certain style guideline, like APA or Chicago style, make sure to format the title page according to the rules of the handbook.

• Don’t just say “the visit was interesting” or “I was bored.” Be specific when describing what you learned or saw.

2. Gather Your Information for Your Educational Report

Pay attention to your details when you are making your report. This kind of report is important especially when it comes to the welfare of your students. Gathering information for this report is necessary.

3. Be Clear and Concise with Your Report

How to write a travel report.

A travel report is also referred to as a trip report and is used to describe the background, observations, and conclusions related to a trip or excursion you have taken. Many times employers will request that traveling employees write up travel reports to relate the knowledge and experience they have gained as a result of their travels. Using the correct format, style, and tone is necessary to create a travel report that is useful and appropriate.

Create the heading of your document. Travel reports can be written in a variety of formats, such as memo or letter format, but most formats use a common heading. The first line of the heading should contain the date, while the name and title of the addressee should be written on the second line, your name and title on the third line, and the subject of the report on the fourth line.

Write the "Introduction" section of your travel report. The introduction of a typical travel report relates the background of the trip and contains background about the people and places that you have visited. This section of the report should be approximately a quarter of the entire length of the report.

Compose the "Discussion" section of your travel report. This is the main section of your report and the bulk of the length should be here. This section should relate your observations and analysis of the situations and events you encountered during your travels. Common subheadings for this section include "Trends," "Main Issues," and "Ethical Dilemmas."

Write the "Conclusion" section of your travel report. The conclusion should not only wrap up your report, but should also explain to the reader what you learned or gained from your travels. Be sure to explain how you have achieved the purpose that you described in the introduction. The last part of the conclusion should include any recommendations you have as a result of your trip.

Finish your trip report. If your report is in memo format, write your initials next to your name in the heading section. If your report is in letter format, use a closing statement such as "Sincerely" or "Best regards" and sign your name. Many employers also require traveling employees to include a list of travel expenses incurred during your trip. Do not forget to include a reference list or works cited page that notes any sources you have used in writing your report.

An Educational Tour

It is to inform all the students of classes 10 and 12 that a one-day excursion and educational tour will be conducted by our school in collaboration with Ashtha Foundation to the National Museum on 30th June 2022. The tour intends to create an awareness in the students about the literary and cultural heritage of our country. Interested students can submit their names to their respective class teachers.

All students must submit a consent letter with their guardians’ contact details and 500 rupees as entry fees by the 20th. The students are requested not to cancel later on unless some pressing issue is there. They must report to the school on the 30th by 7 am. Latecomers and unruly students will be excluded. Students must be in uniform and have ID cards and carry their water bottles and light tiffins, and also medicines with them if required. For more information contact the undersigned.

Here is a spreadsheet template that you can use to create baseline Parent Reports for secondary school/college teachers to make report writing quick, easy and efficient!

Note that this spreadsheet has been designed to save time writing many reports for many students. This is just a generic parent report structure, however you can choose to edit this as you please!

The first sheet of this spreadsheet shows an example of this tool in action. (This example is relevant for A-Level Maths, however you can easily edit this to suit whichever subject of your choice!)

How to use this spreadsheet: 1). In the third blank sheet ‘Parent Reports Template - BLANK’, copy and paste the names of your students in Columns A and B. ( NOTE: You MUST have students’ first names in Column B , and surnames in Column A, if you wish to include surnames).

2). Type in the Gender of each student in Column C. ( NOTE: MUST ONLY use “ M ” for male students, “ F ” for female students or “ NB ” for students who use ‘they/them/their’ pronouns.

3). In the light blue cells (Columns AA to AF), you can input the main body of your parent reports as separate points to mention for MALE students in the grid provided.

Here is a suggested way that you could use this grid to structure your report:

• Row 1 comments can be used to represent an ‘Excellent student’
• Row 2 comments for a ‘Very Good student’
• Row 3 comments for a ‘Good/Satisfactory student’
• Row 4 comments for a ‘Below-par student’
• Row 5 comments for a ‘Poor student’.

4). In Column AG (the last light blue column), you can add a list of topics that you have covered in your course that you teach. (This can come from your course specification, etc.) You can add up to 15 topics in this column, however you can tweak the formula in that column if you require more than 15 topics to be listed here.

5). Repeat Steps 3 and 4 above, but for the light pink cells (Columns AI to AO) - this is for FEMALE students. (You can copy/paste your same references you used for the Male students, but just change the pronouns to female ones instead).

6). Repeat Steps 3 and 4 again above, but for the light yellow cells (Columns AQ to AW) - this is for students who go by ‘they/them/their’ pronouns. ( NOTE: This step is optional, if you don’t have any such students). (However, again, you can copy/paste your same references you used for the Male and Female students already, but just change the pronouns accordingly for each cell, where appropriate).

7). Once the above is all been completed, you can now start to input the comments that you would like to use for your students:

• For the parent report comments, input a number from 1-5 in green Columns D, E, F, G, H which correspond to the Row numbers from Step 3 above.
• For the topic names, input a number from 1-15 in green Columns I, J, K, which correspond to the topic number you added in Step 4 above.

8). Finally, your Parent Reports are compiled in Columns V & W!

Under general supervision of UNH Extension’s marketing and communication manager, create engaging, educational and creative content that promotes the programmatic objectives of UNH Extension. Remote computer work will include managing social media accounts, editing website pages, writing articles and compiling newsletter content. • Manage all Extension flagship social media channels and collaborate with work study students to create engaging social media content
• Review student work, make suggestions for improvements and schedule social posts
• Work to grow engagement and followers and promote Extension events and program areas
