t least with a masters’ degree, I will increase my chances of getting a secure job. After I’m through with my MBA in the next two years, I plan on taking a course on Commercial Law just to widen my horizons. No need to keep all my eggs in one basket and then be faced with the challenges of limited opportunities.
I have always wanted to work in any business related field. The company is not very important to me. My only concern is the culture of the company. I do not want to work in a place that is strictly work with no fun. I want to work in a flexible environment, where the management appreciates the input of everyone including junior staffs and even consults them during decision making.
The work environment should also be accommodative of everyone’s talents and abilities. Where there are no preferences or prejudice and promotions are based on merit alone. Such jobs are hard to come by, but I believe in ten years’ time I will have such a job.
While having my dream job is something I look forward to, staying employed for the rest of my life is not something I envisioned myself doing. I don’t want to spend all my youthful years building someone else’s dreams. I want to build my own dream. I have always dreamt of having a business, preferably in the cosmetic industry. I want to be my own boss. I want to employ like-minded people, who will help me build my vision. I want to improve the lives of both my customers and employees. Above all, I want to have financial freedom.
Businesses require a lot of injections, in terms of time and resources, before they can stand on their own. Therefore, starting a business now is the best financial move I can ever make. I’m still young, I have all the time in the world, I have less responsibilities and in case of a business failure, I can always recoup myself. This is probably the last goal I hope to pursue in my ten year plan, because I have to ensure my life is in order first before I can start a business.
What is the point of pursuing all these goals if I have no one to share it with? This is the most important goal for me. I pray that within the next five years, I will settle down and start a family. I also hope that within the same time frame I will have at least one child, who will be my bundle of joy. My aim is to have a large family of four children. I hope to have a fun and loving family, with a unique culture that will differentiate us from the rest of the boring families around the world. For instance, I envision my family having karaoke sessions every Friday nights.
We will also be spending quality time each day as a family. We will have breakfasts and dinners together. Weekends will be strictly for friends and loved ones and once in a while, we will go out to have a good time. My kids will have everything they desire, from toys to books to musical instruments.
I want to cultivate a culture in my family, where my kids will pursue whichever careers they want in life. My partner and I will give them a head-start in life and provide everything they need to nurture their talents. I do not want them to go through the challenges I went through growing up. I will also ensure that they have a proper upbringing, so that they become upright members of society.
My other goal is to own a home in the suburbs. With a good mortgage plan, I believe I can buy the house of my dreams. My ideal house is a two storied building with five bedrooms, excluding the master bedroom. Four bedrooms for the kids and one for guests. It should also have three bathrooms, a kitchen, a laundry room, a living room, a dining room, a garden at the back, a patio and a beautifully kept lawn at the front. It should also have a swimming pool. The house should also be surrounded by several trees. I want to enjoy the view when their flowers bloom during spring.
I love exotic vehicles, especially if they made in Germany. It won’t come as a surprise therefore that my dream car is the Mercedes Maybach. Owning such an expensive automobile may seem too materialistic to some people, but I’m classy and I want a vehicle that defines me and I believe the Mercedes Maybach is the vehicle for me. Furthermore, we only live once, might as well enjoy the best things that life has to offer.
There are three places that are at the top of my favorite destinations list. They include Brazil, India and Egypt. I would love to visit Brazil and participate in the carnival. I want to be there at the center of everything when the streets are lit with colorful parades and everybody is just singing, dancing and enjoying themselves. There are many things I would like to see in Brazil, the beautiful beaches, the pink dolphins, Iguazu Falls and if I’m lucky enough, I may take a helicopter ride to have a view of the Statue of Christ on top of Corcovado Mountain.
When I think about India, one thing comes to mind- the Taj Mahal. Considered one of the wonders of the world, this magnificent palace is made of marbles and precious stones. I want to be a witness to this iconic piece of architecture that has stood the test of time and continues to mesmerize us to this day.
I also want to have a dip in the Ganges River, which is considered the holiest river in the world. Furthermore, the nation has a rich cultural history, with many religious beliefs, ethnic groups and great cuisines spanning many millennia. It also has arguably the best architectural designs in the world with so many great temples to support this notion. My last destination, Egypt also houses one of the ancient wonders of the world- the Pyramids of Giza. While there, I will take a boat ride and cruise through Africa’s longest river, the Nile.
I also plan on living a healthier lifestyle. I plan on kicking the habit of eating too much junk food and to limit my calories intake so that I keep my weight in check. I also want to switch to vegan diet to reduce my chances of getting meat related illnesses, such as heart diseases and hypertension. Furthermore, I will be joining gym to keep my body well-toned.
Another area in my life that I really need to improve in the next ten years is my spiritual life. It really is pointless to conquer the whole world and in the end lose my soul. I therefore plan to dedicate more of my time to God. I need to pray more frequently, especially in the mornings, during dinner and at night before I go to bed. Furthermore, I will be reading spiritual books and attending events that will help me in my spiritual path, such as seminars, workshops, lectures and religious retreats.
I also want to start a philanthropic society. That will be my way of giving back to my society. It will not be big and fancy like the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. I just want it to be a non-profit organization seeking to better the lives of people around it.
It will basically operate with donations and volunteers. Some of the functions of the organization will include visiting orphanages and homes of the elderly during holidays and helping the poor and homeless.

How one survivor of Image-Based Sexual Abuse is calling for radical change.
Leah Juliett is an Image Based Sexual Abuse (IBSA) expert and survivor, activist, and founder of the March Against Revenge Porn .
When I was a young teen, a boy I knew pressured me to send nudes over Facebook Messenger. Over a decade later, I still have all of the messages. He would compliment my body and show interest in me before asking for intimate photos. And when I denied him, he would rescind his interest. I deeply wanted to be loved and to be seen. For years, I had a very negative relationship with my body and self-image. Being “seen” by this boy was of value to me.
Eventually, after a year of being pressured, I sent him the four photos he requested. My breasts, my face—all of me was exposed. I made him promise he would never share them. He laughed at me, like it was silly that I would think he would violate my privacy and my consent. But that’s exactly what he did.
I will never know the exact thing that triggered him (I’ve never been able to speak to him about it, nor does any excuse justify his abuse), but around the same time I started to come out as queer, he told me that he was going to ruin my life. I didn’t know what that meant at the time, and I wasn’t able to understand the gravity of the situation in the way that I do now. He ended up sharing my nude images on Facebook Messenger to a group of boys from our town. They spread through my high school like wildfire. They were disseminated throughout my city. And I thought: This is as bad as it’s going to get—kids in high school looking at me like they’d seen me naked . But it got worse.
The photos were posted on an international image board called Anon-IB, where my name, age, town, face, and body were disseminated and accessible for well over five years. They’re likely still there today.
I stayed silent for a really long time after this happened. My abuser knew where I lived. He knew my little sister. He knew where I went to school. I knew that if I tried to speak out against him, I would be blamed and slut-shamed by my community. I felt like he owned me, my dignity and my safety. I was also very, very scared that I would be arrested. (In Connecticut, we didn’t have legislation that protected survivors of image-based sexual violence from also being held accountable for sharing the photos.)
I did my best to make myself as invisible as possible. I was afraid that if I didn’t make myself absolutely small and silent, something worse would happen, that more people would find out, that the photos would get posted in other places. When I went to college, I moved out of my small hometown and began depending on self-harm and alcohol to heal my pain. During this time, at 19 years old, I had what Dr. Spring Cooper, a survivor and researcher in this field, calls a “f*ck it” moment. A moment where I was shaken awake.
I had opened up Facebook on my laptop and saw a news article showing a mug shot of the man who had abused me as a teenager. It was a visceral moment, seeing his mug shot staring back at me. It’s burned into my brain. And I said, “Okay, this man is either going to kill me because I am driving myself to death the way that I’m handling the trauma of this situation, or I’m going to act.” In that moment, I decided to save my life, and I decided to act.
For the past decade, I’ve been healing the parts of me that are cracked and broken inside as a result of this abuse and exploitation. And now, at 27, I am in a place where—despite my cracks and despite my brokenness and despite the trauma that lives in me—I am strong enough to advocate against the people, the structures, the institutions that allowed abuse like mine to happen. Now, I’m focused on accountability for abusers.
I work with two coalitions that fight online image-based sexual violence and child sexual abuse material on the Internet, and we’re working to hold tech companies and abusers accountable.
During the Senate Judiciary hearing in January, I was in the room listening to top tech CEOs testify in front of Congress. I was joined by fellow survivors, and I watched parents and families of children who’ve died because of sextortion via this technology speak. There were stories of young people who bought fentanyl-laced pills on Snapchat, of young men who took their own lives after being sextorted. And it made me realize that this abuse and violence made possible through our tech and social media is impacting so many of us in so many unique ways.
I was abused in an Internet and social media landscape that looked a lot different than it does now. There were no precautions or tools to help protect and prevent this type of abuse on platforms. Now, I feel lucky to live in a moment where my voice has value and the five years I suffered in silence are not in vain.
But passing federal legislation is deeply important. We don’t have laws criminalizing nonconsensual image sharing in all 50 states. (It’s a misdemeanor in some, and a felony in a few others.) If I had the power to change things right now, I’d immediately pass the suite of bills proposed to protect children and prevent their online abuse:
When I started talking about this 10 years ago, nobody wanted to hear me. Nobody wanted to publish my story. Attorneys didn’t want to work with me because I was under 18 when the incident occurred. Everybody blamed me and nobody cared. But now, we’re at an inflection point. I’ve been begging everyone to listen to me on this issue for a decade, and people finally seem to be waking up. During the State of the Union, President Biden said it was time to pass legislation to protect children online. My dad texted me: “I heard that and I immediately thought of you.”
If I could tell every young person one thing, it would be to instill in their brains that regardless of what happens to you, that abuse is never your fault. And if it takes you two days or two years, five months or five years to say what happened to you, there will always be someone to listen. There is a community of survivors, experts, and allies in this space who are ready to support and affirm you. You don’t have to just survive. You deserve to live out loud.

UK election
Keir Starmer will be Britain's next prime minister with his Labour Party winning a massive majority in a parliamentary election , with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on the end of an historic thumping for his Conservative Party.
As of 0600 GMT, centre-left Labour looked on course to beat an exit poll forecast of winning 410 of the 650 seats in parliament, an astonishing reversal of fortunes from five years ago when it suffered its worst performance since 1935.
The result would give Labour a majority of around 170 and would bring the curtain down on 14 years of increasingly tumultuous Conservative-led government.
Many of the biggest names in Conservative politics lost their seat, including former prime minister Liz Truss, whose disastrous spell in power during 2022 helped to pave the way for Labour’s victory on Friday.
The pro-Brexit lawmaker Jacob Rees-Mogg and former leadership contender Penny Mordaunt also lost. Sunak and his finance minister Jeremy Hunt retained their seats, the latter unexpectedly.
Sunak's party looks on track to undercut the exit poll forecast of 131 seats, the worst electoral performance in its history, as voters punished them for a cost-of-living crisis, and years of instability and in-fighting which has seen five different prime ministers since the Brexit vote of 2016.

If world leaders weren’t already hedging their bets about a future Trump presidency, they sure are now.
Capitals around the world had already been hedging their bets about a second Trump presidency, but that planning is likely to go into overdrive after President Biden’s halting debate performance, diplomats and analysts said Friday, with global leaders increasingly convinced that Trump will win and usher in a sharp break from Biden’s foreign policy.
Diplomats in Washington set up watch parties on Thursday night as they drafted cables to send to their bosses at home. Leaders in distant time zones got up early to watch Biden’s stumbles and Trump’s inaccuracies. And many emerged convinced that the current occupant of the White House will not be resident there much longer, as they considered how to calibrate strategies that would appeal to Trump’s zero-sum view of the world.
For leaders such as Russian President Vladimir Putin, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and others who calculate they might get friendlier treatment from a Trump presidency, the incentives to cooperate with a lame-duck Biden White House may fade, analysts said, as U.S. rivals jostle for advantage ahead of a change in policy. Top Biden officials had already been saying that they believed Putin was waiting for the outcome of the election before making any decisions about the future of his war in Ukraine.
“There is a non-trivial incentive for the Kremlin to gain ground before the Trump administration comes in and they have to at least pretend to negotiate,” said Constanze Stelzenmüller, the director of the Center on the United States and Europe at the Brookings Institution. Iran, too, may seek to position itself for advantage ahead of a potentially more confrontational approach from Trump, she said.
Even for U.S. allies whose view of the world generally aligns with Biden’s, incentives to play nice with Trump will increase, as happened during his presidency when NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg regularly praised the U.S. president for his tough language on other countries about their defense spending.
Trump bragged at the debate about Stoltenberg’s strategic praise, saying that “the secretary general of NATO said, ‘Trump did the most incredible job I’ve ever seen.’”
World leaders were left to wonder about Biden’s future.
“Marcus Aurelius was a great emperor but he screwed up his succession,” Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski wrote on X , a rare instance of a sitting allied diplomat making a relatively direct, on-the-record comment about the debate. “It’s important to manage one’s ride into the sunset.”
As the debate was underway, diplomats and other global policymakers shared the same real-time thoughts as much of the American audience: Biden and Trump may be separated by only three years, but the current president’s comportment signaled weakness. And Biden’s policy arguments are unlikely to factor much into the vote.
“Initially, Biden looked completely lost,” one diplomat said by text message as the debate was still underway, speaking, like others, on the condition of anonymity to speak frankly about the domestic politics of an ally. “As always, it doesn’t matter what you say but how you say it and how it looks.”
European politicians, who have long been the target of Trump’s most withering foreign policy criticism over trade policy and defense spending, said they would need to accelerate the planning and policies already underway to adjust for a Trump return to the White House.
“This night will not be forgotten. The Democrats have to rethink their choices now. And Germany must prepare at full speed for an uncertain future. If we don’t take responsibility for European security now, no one will,” Norbert Röttgen, a top ally of former German chancellor Angela Merkel, wrote on X .
Foreign leaders had already been pushing for audiences with top Trump foreign policy advisers and surrogates , trying to understand his possible policies and lobby for their own interests. British Foreign Secretary David Cameron visited Trump in Mar-a-Lago in the spring. Polish President Andrzej Duda dined with Trump in New York in April, a month after Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán met with the former president.
Foreign visitors to Washington in recent days have been courting Trump’s camp. In addition to their meetings with sitting Democratic officials, they often seek meetings with conservative foreign policy strategists such as Keith Kellogg, who was former vice president Mike Pence’s national security adviser; Elbridge Colby, a Trump-era Pentagon official; and others who are known to speak to Trump about international affairs. Many have sought out panel discussions at conservative think tanks like the Heritage Foundation, which has assembled Republican thought leaders to plan a presidential transition.
One senior European diplomat boiled his country’s Trump strategy down to three pillars: alignment with his hard-nosed China policy, increased spending on defense, and investment inside the United States.
“The process has been ongoing, I can tell you,” the diplomat said.
With Biden managing the substantial U.S. involvement in two major wars in Ukraine and Gaza, allies and opponents will be calibrating their own strategies around the American election calendar.
Trump promised as much during the debate, declaring that if he wins, even before taking office he would resolve the conflict in Ukraine and arrange for the freedom of Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich, who has been unjustly imprisoned in Russia since March 2023. (A Kremlin spokesman declared Friday that Putin slept through the debate and that it was an internal matter of the United States.)
In the Middle East, hopes for a cease-fire in Gaza are diminishing and fears about a broader war between Israel and Hezbollah are increasing, as Netanyahu seems ever more likely to be able to hold on to office past the U.S. elections in November. Trump and Netanyahu had close relations when the two coincided in office, although feathers were ruffled when Netanyahu acknowledged Biden’s 2020 election victory as Trump continued to fight the outcome. Netanyahu has laced into Biden over what he says are the slow pace of weapons shipments — an issue the Biden administration contests but will continue to be fraught as the war drags on and the U.S. president’s prospects weaken, analysts said.
“Fairly disastrous. That’s the only way to sum it up,” said former Swedish prime minister Carl Bildt on X. He posted a link to an analysis of Trump’s second-term foreign policy written by the European Council on Foreign Relations, which he co-chairs.
“I wish this @ecfr analysis should be less required reading, but that’s not the case. Now it definitely is required reading,” Bildt wrote.
